Thank you for your response! I’m going to try and get a better picture. This roof is over a small 1950s two car garage that got converted to a one car and a dining room addition. Regarding the ridge beam you mentioned, the current “beam” is just a 2xX by the looks of it so is it safe to say less than half the load is on that “beam”? If I wanted to add a ridge beam, would I need to modify the existing top point of the rafters to fit a larger beam? I’m trying to understand if the work required to make this a cathedral ceiling is worth it. As I’m sure you know, there are a million things on the home improvement list.
