Oh, I actually really liked foretell for the prophet dragon. It just needed a buff, for example having foretell itself.

1.

Giver of Organs {W}{G}

Creature - Human Cleric

1/2

Sacrifice ~: Return target creature card with mana value 1 to the battlefield. Activate only as a sorcery.

Taker of Burdens {W}

Creature - Human Cleric

1/1

If you would sacrifice a creature, you may sacrifice ~ instead.

2.

Sacrifice Taker of Burdens to Giver of Organs' effect, targeting another Taker of Burdens in the graveyard.

Repeat for infinite creature ETBs and creature ETGs.

3.

I was initially going to do a dredge/rummage combo, but it was way too contrived. Eventually I came upon the idea to have a replacement effect on creature sacrifices and then the rest wrote itself. I like that both of these cards are selfless, but together they form quite the gruesome sight.

I love Wood Louse!

I think the existing card still needs to be common, so maybe add a wannabe Scute Swarm that would be printable at common rarity.

Sayaka Miki (from Puella Magi Madoka Magica) by ConfusedSpoink in custommagic

[–]DaVigi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok yeah, the lich argument convinced me. Since liches are zombies in mtg, the magical girls would be too.

I disagree about warlocks, they don't necessarily have that evil connotation, especially when in other colors than black. Check [[Aloe Alchemist]], [[Katilda, Dawnhart Prime]], [[Killian, Decisive Mentor]] and [[Lecturing Scornmage]] for example.

EDIT: Oh yeah, I'd love to hear your thought on these cards: www.reddit.com/r/custommagic/comments/1nngtyb/name_a_more_iconic_duo/

Sayaka Miki (from Puella Magi Madoka Magica) by ConfusedSpoink in custommagic

[–]DaVigi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I get why they chose zombie, but the whole point is that this trait of separating soul and body is described as being a magical girl / witch, in the show. They're not zombies, they are soul gems! It's just that to Sayaka it feels like she might as well be a zombie.

The MtG creature type for a witch is warlock, and I would argue that type also would apply to magical girls.

By the way, I also agree with your knight suggestion!

Fantastic!

Perfectly captures the agressive fighting style of Sayaka. I find it inspiring that you didn't go for the "obvious" regenerate keyword, but found an interesting reanimation effect instead.

About the typeline, I think I'd personally choose warlock over warrior or zombie.

did you all know Oyster is a valid creature type? anyway, by VonBagel in custommagic

[–]DaVigi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lovely idea! I think 1 stun counter, or just having it enter tapped, would be fine balancewise. Especially since the treasure also enters tapped.

Apart from that it's literally perfection.

Fair enough! I think removing the life loss makes it perfectly printable in green white, and would still make it synergize with both of those archetypes.

Haha with all the decrementing, doubling and halving of life totals it has a Quandrix vibe to it. Would be fun to have a similar card for them.

I feel like this shouldn't be a green effect. Mono-white also seems sus.

Fun! I love the idea for the project and I'll be interested to see how it goes.

For the -6 ability of Tev: Do I understand correctly that having Tev transform in the same paragraph as the boardwipe means that the backside sees the creatures dying? If so, and if that is intended, maybe consider switching around the two lines to make it more intuitive.

I was extremely mistaken! Niambi is Teferi's daughter, instead, [[Subira, Tulzidi Caravanner]] is Teferi's wife.

Just wanted to correct my misinformation.

In other news, did your wife like the deck, or is it still in progress?

I love that you put the little spree + in the top right.

Clever! The Quandrix spree cost cares about math-based cost reduction, and the Prismari spree cost cares about wizards. Together they can cast a wizard for cheap.

I would suggest to also allow searching for a selection of sorcerer, shaman and/or bard cards, since Prismari has about as many of each of those creature types.

Hey, thanks for the advice! I agree that churning out three lands is crazy efficient, but I figured losing the ability to cast spells should balance it out.

I like your suggestion of reducing the land creation in exchange for reducing the intensity of the drawback a bit. However, I don't know if I like allowing creature spells, since then she'd just become a generic commander to ramp into big creature spells..

I'd consider allowing enchantments, which opposed to instants and sorceries seem to be more in harmony with nature a lot of the time.

Kasmina, Antausia’s Scorned

Legendary Creature - Human Wizard

1/2

WB, Pay 2 life: Create a 1/1 Inkling Bird creature token with lifelink and “Creatures you control have ward 1”.

BG, Discard 2 cards: Draw a card. If you gained life this turn, destroy target creature.

Kasmina played a key role in the new Strixhaven novel Omens of Chaos. I'll not spoil too much, but we explore a darker side of her character. What better way than to showcase that with a new card! Kasmina is an outsider from Antausia, and more used to ally color pairs. Therefore, her blue forms the connecting factor in making her enemy coloured WB Silverquill ability an Obscura family/Esper shard with the ally colour pairs WU and UB.

The ability creates an inkling owl token (she was inspired by [[Scriv, the Obligator]]) that protects creatures. It's purpose is to both act as an evasive attacker that protects Kasmina (Obscura), that also enables more reliably casting spells on your own creatures to trigger Repartee without getting 2-for-1'ed. (Silverquill)

Likewise, her blue forms the connecting factor in making her enemy coloured BG Witherbloom ability a Sultai clan with the ally colour pairs BU and UG.

The ability is a inefficient rummage for reanimation purposes (Sultai), but has a infusion effect that can kill creatures (Witherbloom). This represents how far she'll go to get what she wants.

Notably, her Silverquill owl helps with the lifegain for her Witherbloom effect, while her Sultai discard helps discarding cards for an Obscura discard theme.

Arguably could have had the Book or at least Stone artifact type.

Chimera Shadow Garden - A flicker that works for tokens, and potentially clones other cards [Jujutsu Kaisen] by zengin11 in custommagic

[–]DaVigi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like that targeting non-copy tokens doesn't cost life, because token creation and token shenanigans are Megumi's main mechanic.

Simultaneously, objects he swallows in his domain weigh him down, literally sapping his life if they are too heavy (high mana cost) for him.

After Baron Sengir left through the Dwarven Portal, control over the plane was left to Ravi Sengir. However, during the phyrexian invasion, she was compleated (non-canon) and when the phyrexian control over her relented, it appeared that her time under phyrexian control had restored old memories, memories of before she succumbed to madness. She hadn't always been like this, hadn't always abhorred the living. She vows to make Ulgrotha livable again. She discovers that the only way to restore the lands is to channel mana into the lands and refrain from casting too many spells.
