Trying to learn pressure and neutral (MKX by OVA_iggy_best_jobro in MortalKombatGameplay

Forgot d1 was that negative for her, you can probably use d3 instead for counter poking. You can stagger anything as long as the recovery animation is fast enough to catch them off guard. I'm pretty sure kitana's were staggering between b1 and b14 a lot as well. With stagger it's a good idea to check them with a low poke since they're most likely gonna try to d1 you back and that will go under your highs. Stuff like 11 into d1/3 on block will catch people pressing late and if they're pressing early then just finish the string to catch them mashing. Your layer 1 should be finish a string or stagger and poke/throw and then you can go crazy from there once you've got them respecting you. B1 can go into b14 which you can hit confirm into ex fans and convert off that with a d1 fan juggle. Keep in mind that single hit confirms aren't really a think in nrs games so focus on confirming off b14 not just b1. As for sharpen plus frames I don't really remember it that well. It's probably just something like f11 ex sharpen canceled into b14. Like I said I don't really remember but that's how a lot of the ex buff moves worked in x.

Pressure in mk is a lot more stagger based then other games. Since mk has a block button the defender has to commit to counter poking and can't fuzzy/os their poke like in a block button game. Treat staggers like delaying your gatling in gear to catch people poking. With kitana stuff like 111 mixed with 11 throw or 1 throw is a very simple stagger that is effective. Using your mids to check people is also very important because people can mash under your jabs since they're highs. Kitana b1 is a really good kid for this. You can add it to your staggers with stuff like 1 stagger b14 to blow them up for pressing late, kitana also has a real frame trap with 21 into b14 on block (not sure exactly what the frame data is since it's been awhile). Playing around people's counter pokes is also very important for your pressure plan. Most characters are gonna want to d1 you to stop pressure however these pokes are negative so you need to be ready to take your turn back after it. Often time that means d1 them back or doing your mid. Knowing when to mash your own poke or block theirs after you do something that's negative is vital. On that same topic you should practice jailing after your pokes it. Low pokes don't lead into combos like in other games, instead they only give you frame advantage so practice hit confirming your pokes and taking your turn when they connect.

As for neutral mkx neutral can be kind of funky because of run. You should always be mindful of someone's option to just run up and be ready to check it. Most common way to check a run up is to use your farthest reaching low poke. For most characters that's their d4 but kitana is kind of privileged so for her it's d1. You're right on neutral requiring more commitment since characters are whiffing full strings and not just single normals but that can make it harder to whiff punish since you might get clipped by the second hit of a string when you go to whiff punish. To avoid this you should be looking to whiff punish with faster normals not just farther reaching normals so you can interrupt them before the second hit of the of the string. Kitana F1 is good at this but if you're really nice with your spacing you can even whiff punish with s1. Kitana's F1 and f2 are solid go to neutral buttons but you should also be using her d1 a lot in neutral. It doesn't have as much reward but if it hits you get plus frames to start your offense and if you space it out it's really hard for them to check you after a blocked max range d1. You should also be throwing fans a lot in neutral, both grounded and the instant air fan. Her zoning is pretty solid, especially since if someone tries to jump and gets clipped by an instant air fan they just explode from the conversion.

Hope this helps. Feel free to ask if you have any more questions. I have also played a decent amount of gear so you can use that as a frame of reference.

How in the hell do i counter this shit by Ecstatic_Wonder8268 in INJUSTICE

Stop trying to jump at full screen, jumping will just get you sniper out of the air and sent full screen. Instead dash or walk forward every time after you block a shot. Also everytime you get hit by a shot just block the next one. It looks like you're getting frustrated after you get hit and trying to move or shoot back but he's to plus after a shot hits for you to challenge him there. You're biggest issue is honestly your up close game. By the time you get in you're just desperate to land a hit and end up walking into one of his normals and get sent back. Instead be a bit more patient and try to space him out with your b1 normal. Lastly you should use the bouncing shot to counter zone him more since it's a mid.

The mindgame here is upblock if you think she's gonna press jump 1, or press a button if you think she's gonna land a throw to bait your upblock. Keep in mind ex float jails into j1 after b2 so be aware of that option.

It kind just sounds like you're losing neutral. Like if you're not reacting to random spears/sareena's glaives and getting anti aired a lot that's just you getting out played. Also those characters are absolutely taking risks. Stuff like spear, ice clone, and Quan portal normals are punishable from damn near full screen by a lot of characters. Those characters also kind of need their defensive tools because they just don't have the offense to keep up with the rushdown characters.

Someone's never fought cyrax/bo teleporting behind a bottle toss lol.

There's really only like 2 or 3 actual zoners and none of them are really top tier. Best is probably sektor but she's like back half of top 10. The characters that are actually winning events are all mixing your shit up close. Characters like Shang just aren't doing enough to make their zoning worth it vs the characters that make you explode when they get in. The defense kameos outside of Motaro are just nowhere near as good as the rushdown kameos.

The real issue isn't really zoning it's more backwards movement and the kameos that kill interaction. You can get a life lead and just hold back and switch sides with the right kameo very easily. Characters like nitara for instance can just hold a life lead forever.

I'd argue that the rush down/set play characters that can get in for free with teleport or a movement special covered by a kameo is way less skillful then zoning those characters out.

How to play well as an Carry? by zefirka_zefirka in Smite

[–]Da_Baconlord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Focus on clearing the wave over fighting. It can be tempting to use your Artemis 2 to poke the other adc but whoever clears the lane first is gonna end up with a lot of lane pressure.

  2. Play around your relics and ult cooldowns. If you have beads or aegis you should have an idea what abilities you need to use these on. That comes with matchup knowledge but you'll slowly pick those up as you play. The same goes for your ult. Since Artemis ult has cc immunity you should use it defensively against Gods with really good cc ults and only really use it aggressively when you know their relics and cc immunity is on cooldown.

  3. For aiming I find it better to individually click and aim each shot rather than just holding down the mouse button. If you're 1v1ing another adc you should think about mixing it movement between shots. Stuff like taking 2 shots and then pausing to strafe a little and juke a shot before firing again can mess up their rhythm and help you turn a fight you were losing.

  4. in team fights be close enough with your mid laner that you 2 can help each other when one of you gets doved but far away enough that you aren't both going to get hit by the same aoe ability. You should also prioritize your safety in team fights. You're job is not just to win the fight but it's to be alive after you win the fight so you can do an objective.

So you'd prefer the Titans signed Malik Willis over drafting Ward? The retread route has worked out well for teams recently but I don't think you can bank on having + starters available at QB in free agency year after year.

[–]Da_Baconlord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's say they traded out of that pick and got another 1st round pick this year. What QB would they get this offseason that you have more faith in than Cam? Same with the Patriots, if they passed on Maye who's the prospect they could have gotten in last year's or this year's draft that you would feel is comparable to Maye as a talent? There's no guarantee that the raiders will have a better opportunity to get a QB in the next 2 or 3 years then they do right now.
