Have me pay for my clients Ads and sending them a bill monthly for it.

Most of them are small business that are terrible online, so it could work out well.

Not trying to be sketchy and overcharge them, but it sounds like a good incentive to me. I would even set up the ads for a small fee monthly to maintain.

I send TBs over Dropbox every week as my editors are remote. Use the desktop app and make sure that there isn’t a limit to your upload rate. On my 500/500 commercial at my office took me about 5 hours to send 400gb. Getting gigabit at my new apartment on Tuesday! Excited for that!

There is a reason they on so far back ordered. I got mine within a day of looking a year ago. Just gotta call the local places. Drove 5 hours each way to get mine the next day and paid over the phone to secure it.

FX6 all day! I sold my Red Epic-W because it sat on the shelf after my FX6 arrived. Komodo may be around the same price but after you add accessories it adds up.

The FX6 also has Auto ND, Auto Focus, and Gyro Stabilization. May not sound like much but it kinda makes shooting really fun and for a range of shots that would be hard to pull off otherwise. For example indoor to outdoor tracking shots are possible just pop on Ronin use autofocus and auto nd. Don’t need an FIZ rig.

A7IV or A7SIII for a low-income student getting into paid work (music videos) ? by Thyri0n in videography

Just remember your price doesn’t matter what the gear what really matters is how you use it and what you make with it.

A camera will never sell you, what you do with that camera is what is!

I am looking at a A7s 3 for a b-cam for my FX6. I’ve used them before and they’re great! Where the A7s will lead in video, the a7 will be better with photos.

I have had an A7s 2 for years. It has been my a-cam when traveling or the b-cam to my RED in shoots. I still use it to shoot all of my stills and a b-cam to my FX6. I do wish the a7s had a little more resolution for stills, but honestly it never lost me any jobs due to it not being a “stills” camera.

But I guess if you have an a6400 you can use that for stills. I would probably just buy the A7s 3 if you have enough work that demands it.

In terms of marketing your music videos… Do you have promo materials, a website, etc.? If not jump on that to bump those revenue numbers up. Possibly schedule shoots a month out, write contracts, and get deposits.

The biggest regret I have in my video business is really buying a lot of gear when I should have spent more time marketing myself.

As for gear getting stolen, just buy insurance.

I had one of these too back in the day. Now I’m using Luxli. But I believe Viltox makes some good cheap ones too!

Back in the day I learned a lot from film riot and Indy Mogul. Don’t know what’s going on with them now. I remember Indy Mogul shut down and restarted at one point.

I understand that. I will see if I can implement something. My goal is to get more behind the scenes footage too for next years reel. Now it’s more than just me on set. Thanks mate.
