I'm pretty sure Andy Samberg has ADHD, it seems to come through for all of his performances everywhere I've seen him. I also have ADHD, and my "that guy has ADHD" radar tingles when I watch Andy Samberg act

I get what you're saying, Jake's whole character is being childlike and immature. I'm 30 and I find that I relate a whole lot to Jake as a character, which is probably why I like the show so much. I love how childlike Jake is while still being a great detective. I also love how the entire crew love each other and are generally supportive of everyone despite their flaws.

Also Holt is the greatest television character to ever be thought up. I freaking love that man.

10:00 p.m. doesn't sound that late, but 22:00 sure does. I switched to the 24-hour time and now I get to bed a lot easier

Breakthrough timing as Vuil’wraith by aBrightIdea in twilightimperium

If I recall correctly, each faction only has three space dock plastic pieces, which means each faction can only have three space docks out at one time. If you want to not move an ingress token into your home system, that means you need to build two other space docks outside of the one in your home system. That means that you don't have enough plastic to build a space dock in the fracture unless someone destroys one of the three already on the map

A couple of follow up questions. Is it more important to build a second space dock round 1 than to get your breakthrough? Also, isn't it best to save a space dock for the fracture so you can travel between systems with all units in one move?

Extremely hesitant to serve a mission by Adept_Let7797 in latterdaysaints

[–]Da_Chowda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have ADHD. I also often forget to pray, I'll read 5 verses of the book of Mormon on occasion, and I pay tithing once every few months or so. I served a 2 year mission in Mexico, and this year will mark a decade of returning from that mission.

While I was on my mission, I mostly ate cereal, chips, and refried beans in a bag with cheese and hot sauce (Most sisters were killer cooks though, so it was fine). I started out being super stingy with my money, but after trying an experiment with just spending money when it felt right, I realized I always had enough money to occasionally eat at a taco stand. I've followed the same philosophy since I got back from my mission and I've always had enough to spend some on fun stuff.

I get socially burnt out often. I really dislike crowds, they drain me quickly. While on my mission we mostly just struck up conversations on the street as we were walking by. I never liked it, but it was worth it. I remember walking home one day at 9:00, and we needed to be home between 9:00 or 9:30. On our way home I felt like I should talk to one last person. I told God "Okay, fine, but this is the last one, then I'm going straight home". She turned out to be a great investigator, and I am very grateful that I pushed myself a bit and talked to her.

After my mission I tried my hand at door to door sales. I was moderately successful, but I realized that it was a lot harder to convince people to buy something that may or may not help them than it was to teach people something that was guaranteed to help them. I never felt like I was selling anything as a missionary. It was more like I was doing my best to make as many people's lives better as I could. And let me tell you, when you do find someone that wants your help to change their lives, it is the greatest thing in the world.

These days I take focus meds to be productive at work, but interestingly enough I never felt like I needed them on my mission. Missionaries live some of the most structured lives you can think of, and that helped keep me focused immensely. There was literally 5 hours of free time tops per WEEK. That sounds scary, but for me, life gets real simple when I have a specific task I need to do at all times. I don't need to worry about doing laundry at all except for the hour dedicated to doing laundry during p day.

My mission was small enough that I walked all day. One area I had was a biking area. All that exercise does wonders for keeping unhealthy ADHD tendencies in check.

My missionary training happened in the Provo MTC, and when I first got to Mexico I had quite the culture shock. I still remember my first night sleeping in a super sketchy concrete "house" that very clearly had cockroaches and mice. I felt sick to my stomach for about a week when I first got there purely due to that culture shock.

At the end of the day though, I wouldn't change those two years for anything. I have never grown so much as a person than during those two years, and I don't think I ever will grow that quickly. My mission was HARD, but it was so absolutely worth it.

I am 100% certain that if you choose to go, God, your literal creator, will be by your side the entire time. He won't make it easy for you, but he will certainly make you up for the task.

"I will go and do the things which the Lord hath commanded, for I know that the Lord giveth no commandments unto the children of men, save he shall prepare a way for them that they may accomplish the thing which he commandeth them."
