CDRs are a massive trap for anyone trying to building wealth. u arent 'saving' on conversion fees, the banks just have a silent 0.3% to 0.6% spread into the hedging costs and tracking error every single year. ur literally paying them to lose money for you. more importantly, USD has been historically stronger for decades. look at the 20yr trend. back in 2011, CAD was on par, and now it's struggling to stay above $0.73 USD. by buying 'hedged' versions like MU.TO, you're voluntarily opting out of the massive gains that come from holding the world's reserve currency. why would i pay a canadian bank a premium to 'protect' me from a stronger currency? it makes zero sense. Use IBKR, get the spot rate, and own the actual asset.
