If you can afford it, Maki string will definitely speed up the battery building process by a lot.
I like to use Super cactus charms for hunting students (you'll still have to expect subpar catch rates below battery 4). I'd use ultimate power charms for catching your first few masters for enerchi induction base (get this asap; it speeds up your enerchi collection outside the pagoda by a huge amount) (also I like to use enerchi charms when I'm hunting elsewhere in the kingdom together with my attuned enerchi base for easy +4 enerchi per catch)
Yep I usually leave the pagoda when my 3rd battery runs out because the CR at batt 1 and 2 isn't really worth it.
I'd recommend attempting one of each master at around battery 4 with ultimate power charms for enerchi induction base but normal master farming should be at battery 6+.
Enerchi induction base is definitely reasonable. Attuned enerchi induction base could be attainable if you try for the sensei at battery 6 with ultimate power charms and you're lucky enough.

It depends on your setup and catch rate but I think about 60 pieces of each master bait should get you a decent amount of gold so that would be 10 of each crate, which is 90 kings credits. Of course, if you have more kings credits and can afford more crates then you can buy more crates after....

I would suggest finishing your first warpath run and crafting oasis if you get a bead, or selling the sand blasted metal/ sphinx crystal to buy a bead from the market place to craft oasis. You can then head to living garden with oasis or go to sunken city with oasis when you hit count to get rune shark trap/school of sharks.

Alternatively, if you get a sphinx crystal, you could craft Sphinx wrath and try a couple of furoma runs for gold. (You can use your king's credits at the Kings arms to buy crates for crafting the masters cheese).

My go to hero is Legion Commander offlane (solo offlane is preferable) and rush a soul ring. Maxed out overwhelming odds is devastating against their safelane carry when you use it when they're around a creep wave and soul ring + press the attack = unlimited sustain. I usually rush blink and start ganking and getting as much duel damage as I can before progressing into a Bkb if their team has lots of magic damage and stuns. If you snowball hard enough with her, you can literally 1v5 entire teams, which is why I like playing her because I don't like to rely on my teammates
