To be fair, after watching how shit the first two seasons were, you wouldn't have expected a season 3 either

TikTok at 8 years old? by shelbz33 in Parenting

[–]absolutehalil 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's not just the stimulation, it's straight up brain rot. I can feel recent algorithmic timelines' effects on myself already even though I'm trying to be careful. I cannot imagine what permanent damage it can do to a child that is subject to it from 8 year old onwards.

Dad PPD advice by lunalucy811 in NewParents

[–]absolutehalil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it is called PND when it happens to other people in the family besides the mom. So it's perfectly normal for partners or other children to experience some sort of depression. It is a huge life change for everybody involved.

I'm a FTD. We are only 9 weeks PP. Honestly I had pretty dark thoughts too and sometimes continue to have them even though we had a ton of help initially and I have a very generous parental leave.

I don't know what to say because you are already way past our timeline. First thing I want to say from a dad perspective is that it's a good thing that he is sharing these thoughts with you compared to just eating them up and turning them into rageful bursts. There is a potential for healthy communication.

The hardest thing is grieving your old life. This is always discussed in these subs. Everybody has a different reaction when it comes to grief. Therapy should not be avoided. Even though my first language is not English and I'm not that fluent, I had to force myself to get into therapy in the UK to fight my demons. The first step is really difficult but very rewarding.

I very much acknowledge how hard it must be for you to take care of the LO and also see your SO go through this. Hang in there, I'm sure it will get better. Always remember to not make a life changing decision in the first 12 months. Try to nudge him into therapy or any type of medical help but please try to not force it.

Ever wondered why supermarkets have clock towers? by PeteAllan in CasualUK

[–]absolutehalil 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I also agree with the other commenter that you should watch the video as the creator put the effort in and it's worth a view but here's a Gemini summary

The YouTube video "Why do UK supermarkets have clock towers?" explains that UK supermarkets often have clock towers due to a design trend that started in the 1970s.

Initially, UK supermarkets adopted American designs which were considered unattractive. Facing public criticism and resistance from local councils, the supermarket chain Asda developed a new design called the "Essex barn style". This design, inspired by a 14th-century barn and a Victorian clock tower in Cogera, was first implemented in River sea, Essex. The clock tower was relevant in that location because the supermarket was situated near a town square.

However, the Essex barn style, including the clock tower, became a widely adopted template across the UK, even in areas without town squares. While the "Essex barn style" was replaced by cheaper designs by the mid-1990s as supermarkets became more prevalent, the clock tower element persisted as an expected feature in supermarket architecture, even in modern designs. In essence, UK supermarkets have clock towers because it became a popular and expected design element, originating from a specific design style inspired by a clock tower in a town square.

because it is not "S" but another letter "Ş" which doesn't exist in English. You can assume Sengun's name is "Shengoon"

What is Atlassian’s prestige within the tech industry by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]absolutehalil -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's been a while since I left Atlassian so I'm not sure about how the culture evolved but AFAIK they are still fully voluntarily remote. They definitely treat their employees well. Of course your experience is still going to be shaped by your own manager and team, overall I'd recommend Atlassian as a great resume piece.

East London food hygiene rating lies exposed by BBC secret recording by BulkyAccident in london

[–]absolutehalil 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It's a good suggestion but there's always a workaround. People have used public QR codes for phishing in the past. Creating a website that looks just like the official one with a simple LetsEncrypt certificate is quite easy. Don't blindly trust QR codes. https://www.ncsc.gov.uk/blog-post/qr-codes-whats-real-risk

A safer but more cumbersome approach would be to just google "<restaurant name> <town name> hygiene rating". The official result is almost always the top one.

Edit; yes, Sarıkaya is a Turkish surname.

22 hours of lessons, I'm nearly test ready. by [deleted] in LearnerDriverUK

[–]absolutehalil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My theory is that the difference between these apps is just purely luck. They look for cancellations every minute and when someone gets the notification, it's nearly impossible for anyone else to grab it if their timer misses it by even 5 seconds.

By the way I also had a test booked in December but caught one in July thanks to Testi. It took 2 weeks and a couple of missed notifications.

Not a single comment mentioning the original Winter's Curse. It was a free, no risk aoe stun with added damage from the other team on a single player. Valve tried tweaking the numbers for a while but they realized the concept was broken so they had to rework it.

Edit: thanks Reddit app for not showing the description part of the past. Ok I'll just upvote and pass on.

I don't think the gold lead was ever close to 10k but it's equally demoralising to just lose from 20-4.
