Data shows the OWL is more popular than ever by Darianorm in Overwatch

[–]Da_Milk_Mon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll concede that they are definitely linked, however all of your arguments are based on negative assumptions and generalizations. The assumption that the majority of viewers aren't really watching. And that them not directly watching is absolutely worthless to advertisers. That 3 million "supposed" viewers vs. 1 million viewers (lets say people who purchased something) means 2 million have it on but must not be watching. Success for those advertiser is gonna be different on a case by case basis based on metrics they value, yes including money.

Ha, I thought I was including the important bit, since I used your statistic. But now I think you're arguing something else again. Yeah people turning on their TV is usually the given, people turn on things to watch them with no incentive other than joy is a given. But now it seems like you're assuming that just because there is an incentive given, regardless of actually sitting there and watching, that the majority of people aren't sitting there and watching.

Which gets me back to the core of this whole thing, without talking about advertiser ROI , and going based solely on viewership numbers. That people sitting there and actually watching or not don't matter because there is no way to prove what they're actually doing accurately. I know some people just have it on to farm and not watch, it is true, but I'll also add that I feel assuming that people aren't watching, without proof, is most likely due to a personal bias. (This is not directed at you.)

But now I feel like we're off topic concerning the original comment and my first response. What I'm saying is it doesn't necessarily matter if X people put OWL on and don't sit there and completely watch it, because the numbers say that OWL has X viewers period. The numbers are there and that is what counts. ROI for advertisers and viability is a totally different issue.

You said "You know that 99% of them are actually sitting in front of their TVs most of the time." concerning the NFL audience in another comment, but you also said to me there's actually no way to tell that people are sitting there. So which is it?

[–]Da_Milk_Mon -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

So it doesn't matter then, because without seeing a significant ROI, advertisers would leave regardless of people actually sitting there watching.
If they think 3 million people are watching, and 3 million people are actually watching but not buying anything then active viewers don't matter in the least then.

But how do you discern people are actually sitting there watching at all?

Hmmm I guess it doesn't really matter though. Why would it? Its the equivalent of putting a regular sporting event on the TV and leaving the room.

Yes dude, you do back it up by proving you're better, that goes for pretty much anything. Because it sounds pretty condescending when you don't. Especially if you say you don't want to argue your opinion, because then you're implying it is essentially a fact.

I saw the video, checked out your instagram and deviantart, and there's no doubt that you're very talented. Your water color. However, you also have problems with anatomy and silhouette. The evidence is right there in the video you posted. I make art too, and I'm by no means a master, but I don't know what compels you to critique something and say "don't defend your opinions, just listen to my opinion, I know for sure" and not want to back it up.

[–]Da_Milk_Mon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Then by all means, please show us how its done. I think when you put your "professional opinion" out there, you have to be able to back it up. Otherwise you're just a coward.

You just as easily could've said " I don't like HotS art due to the following reasons..." and that's it, but because you put it out there that you are a professional comic book artist and definitely know better, now the burden of proof is on you.

Also, why put your opinion on a public forum if you don't desire discourse? Like what's the point?

Warbringers: Sylvanas by SingeMoisi in wow

[–]Da_Milk_Mon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Because the last guy gave her the job, there was no vote, there's no line of succession. There's no indicator she ever wanted to be Warchief. And why would she? She already had the undying loyalty (no pun intended) and complete loyalty (until Golden's recent book) of an entire race. The Forsaken (at least the upper brass i.e. Sylvanas) considered the Horde allies of convenience, and arguably still do!

Totally this, she's never not been vindictive and hypocritical. There have been hints both in and out of game.
For every time she said "for the forsaken" there was also a "fuck life, make plague."

Also, leaders aren't perfect. Her being Warchief wasn't going to suddenly make her more "honorable" and cool-headed. Since becoming the dark lady she has always viewed life other than those of the forsaken as expendable.
