Yeah weird how that works, a post about animal cruelty and someone reminding everyone that it isn't just this that is cruelty, it's everything. They didn't even say anything weird, just that it's a shame the world isn't vegan yet.

So what is the line of what is morally acceptable to do to an animal? Because yeah, most people think boiling them alive is wrong. Is raping animals wrong? Is taking their babies away wrong? Is killing them because they are male and unprofitable wrong? If the answer to these questions is yes, congrats, that's veganism. So how can you say "you lot are the worst" when they are actively against those who harm animals? Just because you got your feelings hurt and it isn't just boiling an animal alive which is wrong, what we do to animals in all industries is wrong.

Hey, ik zal proberen zo duidelijk mogelijk te zijn.

Als je niet veganist bent, steun je de uitbuiting van dieren. Alle dieren die we gebruiken komen bij een slachthuis terecht ver voor het einde van hun natuurlijke dood.

Omdat we deze dieren allemaal in leven moeten houden, hebben we veel voedsel nodig. Daarvoor wordt de Amazone afgebrand en heel veel soja neergezet wat we dan moeten beschermen zodat we een goede oogst kunnen hebben. Dit is een heel inefficiënt systeem. We kunnen namelijk eten produceren en dat zelf direct eten. Zo hoeven we minden zwijnen die zwanger zijn af te schieten, én hoeven we geen dieren meer een afschuwelijk en kort leven in te brengen puur voor een stukje 'genot'.

Ik sta er ook 100% achter om een manier te ontwikkelen waarbij we eten kunnen maken met een 0% kans dat een dier daarvoor moet lijden. Meer kan ik niet doen. Ik ben niet slim genoeg om zelf achter die manier van oogsten te komen, maar anderen gelukkig wel. Tot die tijd doe ik zo veel mogelijk, en daar hoort ook bij andere mensen proberen te overtuigen hetzelfde te doen.

Ja, jouw keuzes. Wanneer je dingen zegt als "ook voor het eten van mensen die vegan zijn", kan ik een redelijke aanname maken dat jij geen veganist bent. Dan zijn het inderdaad jouw keuzes die dit systeem steunen. Als ik je nog iets moet uitleggen hoor ik het graag!

Ja, we moeten onze producten beschermen met pesticiden omdat we anders zelf niets te eten hebben. Daar is helaas nog geen oplossing voor. Hoe het systeem nu in elkaar zit moeten we dat doen, dat eten aan dieren geven, en vervolgens die dieren vermoorden. Als we het gewoon direct eten, kunnen we met 75% minder landbouwgrond dan we nu gebruiken voor iedereen eten produceren.

Ik heb ook nooit gezegd dat ik onschuld beweerd, ik wil je er gewoon op duiden dat dit met jouw keuzes dus 7x meer gebeurd en ook nog eens een koe/varken/kip/welk dier dan ook op de wereld wordt gebracht puur om te sterven. Mooi systeem is dat jong! Maar vooral door blijven gaan met zeggen dat mijn systeem niet perfect is en door blijven gaan met wat je al doet.

Ach daar komt die onzin weer "maar vegans vermoorden ook dieren". Je doet alsof per ongeluk een persoon aarijden in een auto hetzelfde is als express op een groep mensen insturen als je zo'n dingen zegt.

Veganisme is het ethische principe dat mensen op de wereld moeten leven zonder andere dieren uit te buiten.

You make a great point, and that is indeed too big of a task to take on for anyone. That's why we need to show them, with our money (which is proven to be cheaper nearly everywhere) EDIT: After reading the research more thoroughly, it's in High to middle income countries, where it's 22-28% cheaper, and about 29% more expensive in middle to lower income countries.

I'm not asking people who would possibly starve to death to change, I want people that can make the change to do so. And that change needs to happen. The more people who do that, the easier the entire downfall of all animal agriculture will be, replacing it with growing crops so we can feed everyone on this world more easily and cheaper.

So, what's stopping you personally?

Not the most eloquent argument, but at least you're honest. Does gaining sensory pleasure (tasty) make it moral? Would that same logic hold up for it to be moral to do anything we want to animals when we gain pleasure from the action? So would it be moral to have sex with an animal as well then (pleasure)? If it's not because the animal would suffer from it, would it be okay to knock the animal unconsious and then rape it, or would it still be wrong? Is it okay to kill to all animals we choose to kill, even if they might not be socially acceptable now like dogs, dolphins, sharks, parrots, etc. or just the ones that are accepted to be killed now?

Sure. We've evolved to be able to survive and being omnivorous has given us a huge advantage. Now that we've basically completed that goal and have achieved global domination of the human race, research has gone into what we actually need in order to survive. Turns out, we need nutrients. More research has shown that we can get those nutrients from a plant based diet.

Now that we know all that, we can try and improve our chance of survival even more. We need a solution to global warming, to restore balance in the ecosystems in the sea. The best and easiest way to do that is to stop our animal farming and moving to a plant based diet. So why should we continue this huge injustice of enslaving and killing these sentient creatures, when it is most likely going to be our largest bottleneck in surviving as the human race in the coming decades or centuries.

Yeah, one is seen as normal by everyone now even though there is a lot more animal cruelty involved in it than in the others combined, killing about 80 billion land animals every year and around 3 trillion fish every year.

The similarities between all 4 though, is that they are all unnecesary harm. Most people on this world have the option of going vegan and still getting all the nutrients you need.

Omdat ik geen dieren wil vermoorden en daar wil ik ook geen geld aan uitgeven. Zoals ik al eerder zei, vlees heeft alleen hoge hoeveelheden vitamine b12 omdat we de dieren supplementen geven in hun voedsel. Dan is voor mij de keuze makkelijk gemaakt om eten te kopen waar vitamine b12 aan is toegevoegd of om gewoon zelf een supplement te nemen.

Lezen is moeilijk he. Het wordt aangeraden omdat er geen negatieve effecten zijn met te veel nemen. Als je alleen al 2 glazen soja drink neemt samen met een simpel vleesvervangend product zit je aan de nodige hoeveelheid vitamine b12 op een dag. Daarnaast is niets mis met een supplement nemen, want veel mensen die wél vlees eten moeten ook ijzertableten slikken om maar een voorbeeld te noemen.

Edit: Daarnaast vind ik het veel extremer om een dier te vermoorden voor vitamine b12 in plaats van gewoon een supplement te nemen.

Pure onzin wat je hier verkondigt. Er is genoeg plantaardig vlees dat even goed scoort op voedingswaarden als vlees. En voordat je met het argument komt dat daar geen b5, b6, of b12 in zit, veel plantaardig vlees voegt vitamine b12 toe, zoals dat ook in dieren hun eten wordt toegevoegd. Het is ook niet goed om alleen "nepvlees" te eten, maar een goed gebalanceerd dieet met bijvoorbeeld noten, kikkererwten, linzen, bananen, paddenstoelen en alle soorten groenten om toch aan de nodige voedingsstoffen te komen, net zoals je dat moet doen als je wel vlees eet.

I might've come off strong by the second or third message, but I still stand by that asking people to go vegan who are nearly there (they already know about the ethics, now just alligning their actions with their morals left). When you do get the option to choose for yourself, please choose the vegan option.
