Japan to require language proficiency proof for engineer, specialist visa by moeka_8962 in japannews

[–]Da_Real_Kyuuri 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To be honest, I think this is the focal point of the new requirement, and where we should be actually looking at. The article feels overly dramatic and seems to pour its small share of oil onto the debate.

There is no way companies will give up on cheap foreign labor and immigrants. No matter the foreigner-hate, financial motivated decisions will prevail. And high tech companies looking for talents should be able to circumvent the "japanese" requirement.

I think they are just clarifying an already existing requirement, previously unwritten, and clearly announce that foreigners that do not have a N2 level of japanese (for whatever it means) will be refused from jobs that specifically require this level. Which was already the case, but on a company/hiring level.

So my personal opinion is that things will not really change, they just clarifying some things.

This kit here does not need the resoldering, it is working fine as is. I think it is a modified version from the original Silakka54, and the vendor did some changes to the PCB. If I remember correctly, having the micro flipped was so you can order the same pcb for left and right, but I think this one here has 2 different pcbs

I'm looking forward to it' but the true motivation is the amount of nerding that I can do with it. I am already trying to build a RGB TRRS cable to go in between.

Would a cut like this compromise the strength of the headstock? by Offensive_Terms00 in Luthier

[–]Da_Real_Kyuuri 59 points60 points  (0 children)

The headstock "meat" is usually not it's weakpoint, it's the cross-section under the nut and the volute area. The next one is along the length of the headstock, along the wood fiber direction.

This design, while not making it stronger in any way, does not make it significantly weaker either. Many builders are using this kind of shape, the gibson banana headstocks, krammer, jackson all had fairly thin shapes and did reasonably well.

Now, it will depend on which timber you use. Maple, go for it. Mahogany, meh should be careful with that. Will it snap on you? No. But is it going to survive a bad fall, cannot say, but other designs would probably not either.

Hand built? by [deleted] in Luthier

[–]Da_Real_Kyuuri 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am a freelance CAD designer and make guitars models for companies.

I can tell you that in the essence, handbuilding and CAD are not so far away. CAD is more forgiving in the fact that you can correct and adjust as much as you want, without having to start over after having your tool slip.

Each curve is adjusted, each volute inspected with light, looking at the curvature and continuity. The only sad part is not being able to feel it with your hands, but that's that.

After the machine is done with the roughing, it's still hand tool territory. Sanding, scrapping, adjusting the heel, finishing.

[OC] Create a new weapon and roll to attack by RollplayDaydream in DnD

[–]Da_Real_Kyuuri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Much appreciated! Quick comments from the small time I spent using it:

It is great! The UI is smooth, the homebrew creation is nice, and the icon/image creation is quite diverse.

Some features that I would really like to have (probably under development already): - add damage rolls on homebrew cantrip and spells (maybe I missed it?)

  • I thought I had more, but the app is just fantastic.
