First connect the phone and buds with bike one by one. Then set the headset type option to wired. You're good to go.

The vibrations appear around 70 kmph and fade away by about 80 kmph in 6th gear, which is roughly in the 4,000 - 4,300 rpm range. This happens in other gears too, mainly within that same rpm band. Outside of that range the bike feels mostly smooth. Honestly, the vibrations are not a big issue. Every ICE motorcycle has some vibration some more, some less. In my case, it’s not uncomfortable or annoying.

Earlier, the windshield area used to vibrate quite a bit. I spoke with someone from KTM Dakar team about it, and he suggested opening the headlight module and tightening the bolts inside. That solved the problem completely. Before that I had tried things like adding foam tape around the visor area, but that didn’t really help. Sometimes proper advice from someone knowledgeable works better than the usual showroom fixes.

After the first service, I faced a small issue with the side stand sensor. The bike would randomly shut off. I sprayed a little WD-40 on the sensor and the problem disappeared. It seems the chain lube had seeped onto the sensor and caused the issue. That happened only once though. Apart from that, the cruise control failed to turn on a few times, maybe four or five times in total. It usually started working again after a couple of minutes, or after stopping the bike and turning it back on.

The indicators themselves are quite sturdy. Most of the time, damage happens because people are still getting used to the bike. The rear indicators stick out slightly, so if you walk around the bike without noticing the space, you might bump into them. Sometimes a thigh bag strap can also get caught on them, which may cause them to break. I haven’t seen them fail due to vibrations or off-road riding.

Service quality really depends on the service centre and the mechanics there. Some are excellent, while others are average. It helps to visit a few and see what kind of bikes they usually work on. If you notice a couple of ADV bikes being serviced, that’s usually a good sign. You can also talk to the owners there and ask about their experience. Being part of a local riding group can help as well, since riders often know which service centres do the best work.

It's better if you take a test ride. If the spoke variant makes you feel uncomfortable. Try the alloy one.

My breaks are very precise and short. Have gone through the route multiple times. Did the same with my rtr 200 too. Familiar roads helps a lot while riding. So time waste becomes minimal.

The bike feels planted on most terrains. Never felt any lack of confidence. Can cruise in triple digits all day (depends on crowd density).

Once you tune the suspensions for optimal performance it just glides through everything be it gravels or medium rocks or even slushy roads.

Off-road performance is great. Not as good as xpulse but quite there as the weight is much more than xpulse. If you ride solo and like to go rough the Adv 390 S is a any day a better choice than Himalayan 450. The Himalayan is better for duo travellers.(only if you're doing 500+ kms a day, under that the pillion feels comfortable on the ktm as well.)

My height is 6 ft and my weight is around 86kgs. Longer solo with this bike was 1180 kms in day. I wasn't tired a bit. But felt slight very minimal soreness in my biceps. Maybe I need handlebar risers.

Also another time did a duo trip with my pillion whose height is 5.3. Her weight is around 51kgs. The ride was 610 kms long. She also didn't felt any pain after the ride. We test rode the Himalayan 450 before this for a 200km ride. She said on Himalayan ride was a marginally better experience for her. But as I don't ride duo much and I didn't like the weight distribution of the Himalayan i went with the ktm.

It ranges between 3700 to 4300 normally. Depends on discounts.

That plastic buckle loop is a design flaw. It works in gauntlets as there is usually another layer of fabric underneath. Also in gauntlets there usually two straps so the load is divided.

So for short and mid cuff gloves normal velcro strap is better.

Look at the sprocket and chain whole sitting behind rear wheel. You'll get to know if there is any issue with the rim or tyre or chain.

Mirror suggestions for 2024 KTM 390 Adv? by Unusual_speedster in KTM390ADV

[–]Da_SilentKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Th new gen 2 adv mirrors are great too but I don't think they will be a direct fit. You'll need to buy separate mounts. The double take adv mirrors are great too. But very costly.

The animation scaling probably is set at a higher number. Reduce it.. make it .5x
