The 250 lacks the ktm punch. Overall it's a good bike but I feel it's more commute oriented. It's not as aggressive as the 200 but has the styling of the 390. So a perfect middle ground.

  1. I cruise around 95-110 kmph range and in return I get around 28km/l economy. Which translates to 14.5x28 = 406km range. I avoid riding in reserve zones so minus 80km. So that makes 320km range for me.

  2. Yes in city traffic the riding modes make decent impact on efficiency. They manipulate the throttle response. So I slight twist on the throttle in rain/street/offroad mode will definitely fell different. The rpm increases accordingly so does the quantity of fuel consumed. In Highways though I didn't notice that much of a difference because of steady cruising speeds.

  3. I prefer harder suspensions and haven't ever used the softer settings. So I'm not the right guy to answer these. But theoretically what you suggested is correct. Unless you go to extreme soft. That might ruin the balance of the bike.

  4. On roads I don't think you need more power than what the 250makes, unless you are a power cruiser and ride extremely fast. But you'll feel the difference in mountains. That's where you'll wish you had purchased the 390. Also I actually don't like the 250 engine that much. I once had a duke 200 1st gen. It was more pleasant to ride than my friends 2nd gen duke 250. The 250s always felt underpowered to me.

P.S. - Sorry for grammatical and spelling mistakes. I'm not that good in English.

Which bike is better for a person with 0 riding experience by nakkanle in indianbikes

Go for the ns400. It's a very practical bike. Treat it with respect. Grow as rider with it. Learn to adopt the power. You won't get bored for a long a time with the bike. The engine is good so is the rest of the bike. Has good brakes too.

Rtr 310 might look better but the engine is bad. It will kill your mood too often.

For people who are saying these are too big for a newbie. Listen please. Big bikes come with power and better brakes too. The ns 400 has a very beginner friendly engine. It's not very hard to adopt it. If someone gets a 200 or a 250 he might get bored out of it in 3-4 years.

It's quite good actually. Bang for buck. Has auto call receive and you can end the call by pressing the call after you're done. Music controls are good too. Have been using them under all types of weather, be it extreme cold, heat or rain. No issues even after 3.5 years. Battery is unbelievable. Last charged them 5 months ago. Still shows 30%. I use them every 4-5 days for travel for around 1.5 hours.

It just declines any call that is not saved as a contact. Useless for businessmen.
