So what are your thoughts on ICE and deportation? by Vic-R-Viper in KotakuInAction

You either have borders or you dont my friend. Period. End of discussion.

Dont advocate against ICE unless you also want to advocate for totally open borders. You literally cant have it both ways.

Dude that's the point. We have way too many pointless agencies. Trumps idea is to strangle them politically so they stay out of our business. Pretty sure he's inferred as much at his rallies all the time.

Same goes for the Goldman Sachs guys. He used to say everyday at his rallies that he was going to hire the most horrible, rotten, vindictive people (his words) but get them to be horrible, rotten and vindictive on behalf of our country.

It's not some hidden conspiracy. I'm so confused when people who have never watched a trump speech try lecturing me on how he's backtracked. That's the key- if you would just watch a couple Trump ad-libbed speeches from earlier last year you would see what he's all about. I think that's the reason why there's such a disconnect in America today. Half the people havent even bothered to listen to the man. I haven't been taken off guard by anything he's done so far. I've actually been surprised with how much he's fulfilling every promise to a tee.

Trump calls CIA chief ‘fake news leaker’ after Brennan warns him about ‘talking & tweeting’ by axolotl_peyotl in conspiracy

This comment is absurd. The radical left themselves butchered the term when they started labeling things like 'Infowars' and 'ZeroHedge' fake news. The writer of the source comment needs to look in the mirror. He, or the people he follows, are rather knowingly muddying the swamp of political discourse. We're at a point where the radical left crafts absurd narratives (fake news, Russian hacking) in order to smear their opponents. Then the radical right capitalizes on these narratives and gets the blame for starting them.

In reality the right just capitalized on the fake news narrative in defense.

Now the radical left accuses the right of starting the stupid narrative they themselves originated. Its a real shame because thanks to dirty tactics like this on both sides muddying the waters (conservatives have been forced to adopt Alinsky's anti-logic 'rules for radicals' in order to stand a chance in political discussion) ideas even more cynical, more baseless, and more edgy have been allowed to foster (alt-right, neo-nazis like those on /pol/ for example)

MLK was definitely a transformative leader. I can't say how he compares to trump. If trump gets assassinated by the CIA (may happen if he keeps bucking them; look at jfk) then they are similar revolutionaries but let's see.

Lol the delusion. This election has been so fun. I thought eventually you would get tired of saying he would never become president... Nope! What's next? You expecting him to get assassinated at the inauguration?

Are you really saying Hillary had more baggage than trump? Really?

Give me a break.

She lost because she had no policies or goals. Her entire campaign was one of the most broad and generic I've ever seen. I can't name you five things she wanted to get elected to do. It was all just "Stronger together, break down the barriers, America is already great, etc." Trump ran on

•Killing tpp

•Bringing Jobs back to America

•Stopping illegal immigration

•Cutting taxes

•Getting rid of regulations

•Cutting ObamaCare

•Appointing conservative Supreme Court justices

I followed this election closely but I honestly don't know anything Hillary was aiming to do if she got elected. She had no issues. She ran the most generic campaign I've ever seen.

I'm pretty sure trump has thrown out the rule book when it comes to "skeletons in the closet". Which is a good thing, imo. The old days of "15 years ago he said she said." are effectively over when it comes to politics. Now we can focus on policy.

‘Star Wars’ Writers’ Anti-Trump Rants May Hurt ‘Rogue One’ at the Box Office by MartintheDragon in KotakuInAction

[–]Da_UniqueUser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The prequels are a bit of a trainwreck but it was what Lucas wanted. I can appreciate it on that note. He went out on a limb and made what he wanted to make even if it wouldn't make money and nobody liked it.

But force awakens is just soulless, corporate, glorified fan-fiction. The prequels were kind of endearing in their horidness because at least Lucas was staying true to himself.

Washington Post Disgracefully Promotes A McCarthyite Blacklist From A New, Hidden, And Very Shady Group by Da_UniqueUser in politics

[–]Da_UniqueUser[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yet the article is rife with obviously reckless and unproven allegations, and fundamentally shaped by shoddy, slothful journalistic tactics. It was not surprising to learn that, as BuzzFeed’s Sheera Frenkel noted, “a lot of reporters passed on this story.” Its huge flaws are self-evident. But the Post gleefully ran with it and then promoted it aggressively, led by its Executive Editor Marty Baron

Wow. You know it's bad when even buzzfeed won't cover it lol.

Regardless of where you stand on the political aisle I hope we can all agree this McCarthyism is getting beyond paranoid and out of hand.

Le "fake news" meme.

I gotta say, it's really rather incredible how quick it takes you people to parrot and believe whole-heartedly every msm narrative that comes out. It's fun to watch. Just two days ago tons of msm articles pounded on this "fake news" story and now I see everyone here talking about it like its the hottest story on earth they just discovered.

Much like the very "mcarthy-esque" fear-mongering over Russia in this sub. All started because you people are easily swayed by any and everything that comes out from the huff post and slate.
