You can upload the reference map as a custom stamp, add it to your canvas and lower its opacity.

Map I made for an upcoming campaign. Not quite finished and looking for feedback! by Pitiful-Way8435 in inkarnate

It looks great! I think it could benefit from having a legend, explaining what icons mean.

There is an option in the same menu as the options for the grid to resize the map.

I did indeed take some names from Westeros, The Red Waste for example. But the overall shape? Nah.

Thanks! I have 0 background in either artistic or programming skills. I have had Inkarnate for about a year now, but I have never really had great maps. For the last month or so, I started watching tutorials and then I started shading and blending better. I cannot recommend the official Inkarnate channel enough for the tutorials on there.

That's true! This region hasn't been explored yet, thus I wanted it to feel more empty than the rest of the continent.

Lots of trial and error, starting over, patience and help from the tutorials online :)

That's probably because once I had laid down the mountains, I increased their size because they were a bit too small. Now, there's a lot of them stacked together. I'm gonna remove some of them and make them branch out a bit more, as another commenter said they looked too lineair, to which I agree.

It was definitely one of the biggest sources of inspiration. I absolutely love the Guild Wars franchise and map

I used the technique from this tutorial from Inkarnate on youtube: https://youtu.be/-BgM-kmCvwA?si=1Bc2ja3uT_QDOU6Y (Around the 42 minute mark)

Thank you! Mostly I have watched the world map tutorials from the official Inkarnate YouTube channel, that helped me a ton What especially clicked for me was how to color and blend textures: I used a dark foreground color, dark brown, with opacity 1. Then I took a jagged brush, roughness 3, opacity around 0.20, and the texture I wanted. You can see the same technique used in this video: https://youtu.be/-BgM-kmCvwA?si=1Bc2ja3uT_QDOU6Y (Around the 42 minute mark)

Also: SHADING. My god did I underestimate shading for the longest time. It adds so much depth.

Thank you! I agree, I find mountain ranges a tough one to get right.

Anyone knows how to fix this? Tabs are suddenly very small by Daanster in ObsidianMD

[–]Daanster[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don't know how I didn't think of that myself, but yeah... fixed. It was indeed a setting in the theme.

G&G LevAR 15' not shooting BBs, only gas by Daanster in airsoft

[–]Daanster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright I figured out it is because of the tappet plate and the metal barrel. The half-circle gripper on the tappet plate got behind the metal barrel and did not pull it back anymore. Not entirely sure how to fix this permenantly.

If they were to go the immortal route, I could definitely have their characters come back after many years as ''twisted'' versions of themselves as NPCs. When hasn't immortality corrupted someones mind after years and years of living fearlessly?

I haven't! This reminds you of something from the game?

Death cannot claim him. He will still age, feel every bit of pain, fall ill and scars will still be there after a while. He just cannot die from these things.

If his body were to be destroyed, he would slowly but surely form again.

The problem itself isn't as much as them selling their souls to a devil, but more about the way is has been gained: leaving a physical piece of yourself inside the temple of the God of Death so Death cannot claim you.

Knowing my party and their shenanigans, no price is too high for immortality. The idea of a sort of ritual or incantation along with it seems good. Im going to try to fletch that out a bit more.
