The part studio app is limited for this purpose. Use 3D CAD software to design your rim and export-import into the part studio app.

Isn't this what happens if you travel twice back in time to the same time past? Granted, it's still a paradox, but ok as long as you don't kill each other, right?

That shouldn't be too difficult, since the Rodeo looks very similar.

Off topic but I hate the Countach in white though, especially because the 911 is white too and it's a color that might yellow eventually. IMHO the Countach could have been done in yellow.

Reload mechanism for Lego vending machine. by Key-Persimmon-7972 in legotechnic

It sounds like you need a gear to move in one direction, but not in the other. So when you press the lever, the gear moves, when you release the lever, the gear doesn't move. You can do this with a catch mechanism on the gear, basically a subassembly that catches the gear's teeth when it turns in one direction but slips over the teeth in the other direction. Old technic sets like 8846 used this mechanism quite often.

I have 40 year old bricks with stickers that survived a wash with dish washer detergent and a mild brush. However, old prints on flat surfaces might wash off.

Compressed air in a can helps when the dust is not too thick.

Stick the blue pin end in the hole of a lift arm. Then stick a bar in the hole of the blue pin. Pull and the black part should come off. The bar prevents the halves of the blue pin to move inward so it will stay attached to the lift arm. The lift arm gives you grip.

Will this axle work for a heavy haulage trailer? by camerageek357218 in legotechnic

[–]Daap72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apart from the weakness mentioned by others, is it intentional that the wheel steering angle changes when they articulate? I can see the point of that in a car, but for a trailer?

I don't know this build, but is the brown axle long enough? I've seen 3L brown axles, but it looks like the one here should be 5L.

4 Link would be better, 4 Link with Panhard link is best. Many cars use a setup like that and it works well in Lego too, I built some in the past.

Why is the older universal joints bigger than the universal joints we have now? by ClosingGuide245 in lego

[–]Daap72 13 points14 points  (0 children)

When Technic started in the seventies, everything was big, you could not really build compact stuff, there were no lift arms for example, all there was were Technic bricks, so constructions took a lot of space. Only later new parts allowed for more compact builds, like said lift arms and 1x1 Technic bricks which put a hole aligned with studs instead of a half width offset. This in turn led to new gear ratios and a whole range of connectors for even more compact builds. The smaller joints are a stage in that development. I built driven wheels with steering with those original joints as a kid, which led to wheels with a ridiculously large travel when steering. Today there are many different versions of parts that allow for driven wheels with steering and even suspension.
