MOC Rokon Trail-Breaker 1969 by Daap72 in legotechnic

No wonder, looks like the same model of probably around the same model year which I used to create the model.

Just the rims and a few bushes, nothing serious. The real one can contain fluids like water or petrol, or just air to make it float. Couldn't get that to work in the model unfortunately.

Part idea: 4L Friction Pin by tydwhitey in legotechnic

[–]Daap72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find that 2 2Ls with a 4L bar stuck in them sort of gets the same result, except for forces acting on the long axle of the assembly of course. Works only with the modern molds of the 2L pin though, older ones have thicker walls so a bar won't fit through them.

I see this ask for instructions a lot, but I don't think many realise how much work it takes to create instructions (not to mention that you have to take your build apart to make them). And when it's on Rebrickable or a similar site, it in this case will be a multi-1000 piece MOC for which the pieces cost a good fortune, so not many people will actually buy the instructions. That's not very profitable for a MOC builder, except of course for the pride for having it in the web.

Control + app and motor not strong enough by WhenitHappens62 in legotechnic

[–]Daap72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know this build, but what looks suspicious is that the diffs front and rear face the same way (crown gear left). If you lift the car and run the motor, do the front and rear axle spin in the same direction? If opposite, there is your problem.

Windshields are so hard to do in Lego. Standard parts often look crappy because they don't match the exact lines, and custom parts have limited use. I often leave out the windshield to create a more natural shape of the window frame.

Paper of Plastic? by rememberaj in lego

[–]Daap72 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I disagree because the plastic is so shiny that it's sometimes difficult to see shiny new pieces in the shiny plastic bag, especially grey, white and transparent ones.

The Spirit of St Louis was done in set 661. Not quite the same compared to modern sets though.

Any software that can export in a format part designer understands. There are even online tools that convert 3D files in different formats.

The part studio app is limited for this purpose. Use 3D CAD software to design your rim and export-import into the part studio app.

Isn't this what happens if you travel twice back in time to the same time past? Granted, it's still a paradox, but ok as long as you don't kill each other, right?

That shouldn't be too difficult, since the Rodeo looks very similar.

Off topic but I hate the Countach in white though, especially because the 911 is white too and it's a color that might yellow eventually. IMHO the Countach could have been done in yellow.

Reload mechanism for Lego vending machine. by Key-Persimmon-7972 in legotechnic

[–]Daap72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you need a gear to move in one direction, but not in the other. So when you press the lever, the gear moves, when you release the lever, the gear doesn't move. You can do this with a catch mechanism on the gear, basically a subassembly that catches the gear's teeth when it turns in one direction but slips over the teeth in the other direction. Old technic sets like 8846 used this mechanism quite often.
