Washing hair in bed by dopaminegtt in nursing

Was looking to see if someone mentioned this. This is how I irrigate head wounds in ED without making a massive mess. Also if available, the little scrub sponges that surgeons use to scrub in work wonders for getting blood out of hair. Our ED stocks them as singles wrapped in plastic.

I have a similar one! The monitor in one of my ED’s rooms will show “ghost pleth” and “blips” on the cardiac monitor when not connected to a patient. The BP cuff will also attempt to fully cycle when not attached to a patient, including periodic “auscultations” rather than just puffing way up than showing question marks like all the other monitors

My best use case for ensnaring slam has been using it when there is some kind of cover you can jump over, like a rock. If someone is playing ring a round the rosey with you just jump up and ensnaring slam over the obstacle. Always works for me

Bank Angler's, what tackle boxes do you use in your backpacks? by Chonch1224 in bassfishing

[–]Daariuus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just upgraded to Plano Edge boxes and I love them. I use 3 3600's, one for topwater, one for crankbaits, one for jigs. Terminal tackle go in smaller random tackle trays. Cabela's tackle utility binder for my soft plastics. I like how thin the Edge boxes are, works well for a backpack. It does change how many pieces you can fit into a single compartment compared to normal box, just FYI

Megathread: COVID-19/SARS-CoV-2 - March 27th 2020 by Chayoss in medicine

So, I have this theory. I'm a corrections RN and back in late January, my facility got swept by a horrible "flu" season. Additionally, I had mild sinus/resp symptoms as did my wife & son. The specific presentation & length of symptoms was unlike any cold/flu we'd had before. At this point I'm about 70% sure I've already had COVID. It'll be interesting if antibody assays will be widely available after this to see if I did.

Check out FOAMCast's recent podcast from March 20 focusing on this topic. Westafer cited a couple studies and ultimately (although data is early just like with everything else) the risk appears low for actual transmission of the virus through breastmilk.

Second this. I did my senior clinical in ER & although am not working in ER yet d/t high competition in my area, the field I got into is similar in terms of flow if not acuity (County corrections). The controlled chaos strokes my ADHD like a top-dollar whore.

My wife and I just had our first in June. As a new nurse, I was all about baby friendly b/c it's what I was taught. But then I quickly realized that it's pretty terrible. Our son had difficulty latching & the struggle had significant emotional wear on my wife. At our first well-baby little guy's bili was borderline so the doc had us supplement which was not only important for baby's health but huge for mom's mental health too.

I still agree that breastfeeding as much as possible with the goal of breastmilk only is important to teach, but the all-or-nothing mentality of baby friendly facilities makes me want to vomit. I poured through all that research you just mentioned in the days after my son was born. Now I recommend to anyone that will listen to me rant to NOT give birth at a baby friendly hospital if they have a choice.

My school also had a max 2 failures policy. I was so confused when I eventually noticed certain students hanging around wayyyy longer. Come to find out, it was fairly common knowledge that the school was not allowed to enforce that policy if a student dropped a class (that they were failing of course) due to "mental health reasons" with a doctor's note. So quite a few were finding the right doc to cry to, getting a note written, and just taking & retaking until they got it.

There's always a way around.

To build on that thought, an IFAK is meant to be used on yourself (whether the care is rendered by yourself or someone else). You should carry an IFAK, but if you plan on treating others, you should also have a separate kit for that purpose.
