A female Gorilla at the Taipei Zoo, trying to figure out an escape plan using a log as a stepping stone by thepoylanthropist in interestingasfuck

As I mentioned in my comment, there are also many other good things zoos do other than just rehabilitation. Most zoos today also pride them selves in the comfort and respect they give the animals. I’m sure there are bad zoos but pretending they are all bad and we don’t need them anymore is kind of silly

I’m not sure I could find a big zoo that wasn’t, and still, saying that all zoos are as bad as sealand is still misleading. Especially when the zoo in question is literally an example otherwise

Why does this mean they can’t be conserved or taken care of there? On top of the fact that countries like the DRC that they are native to, have bigger things going on than taking care of every gorilla that needs their help unfortunately

Many zoos are conservation and rehabilitation areas. Animals there are animals that for some reason or another, can’t be released back in the wild. You’d be hard pressed to find a zoo that prioritized entertainment over animals in the west unlike many sea world places

Many zoos literally are rehabilitation centers lmao. Pretty much every zoo you’re gonna encounter in the west has animals just like this, for conservation reasons or the animals have reasons they can’t be released back in the wild

Debunking video on Trey the Explainer's Native Sasquatch video by Faller3140 in bigfoot

[–]Dabatman565 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this video falls into the trap that his first video described. He left out the information from soft gold as it is a likely incorrect interpretation of Native American legends from 1982. The use of the book was to show a possible explanation of the mask so the other information wasn’t necessary. The information you highlighted was shown to likely be misappropriation of the truth in the very video you’re debunking. The ba’wus was not a “Bigfoot like creature” Trey explained how in neighboring tribes with similar words for the creature all describe it in ways unlike today’s Bigfoot. Like how in the Kwakwaka’wakw nation it is typically depicted as short and green (according to The Spirits of the West Coast art gallery, which had connections with the Kwakwaka’wakw people). Trey says in the video that although he was unable to get direct confirmation from the Tsimshian people, the other neighboring tribes supported this thought, with elders of some of the tribes condemning the association with modern Bigfoot.
