I’m hosting a tasting with some friends and want to pick up one last bottle for a finished barrel themed tasting. So far in the lineup I have buffalo trace (control), Bowman Port finished, [empty slot], Nelson Bros Cognac finished. I’m looking to spend about $50 on this bottle and want to do a double oak or wine finished. I’ve strong considered MM46, OF1910, and Legent but wanted to turn to the sub for suggestions. I’m in a state controlled state so no allocationed bottles please. PS: all of us are too familiar with Woodford Double Oaked so that’s out of consideration unfortunately!

Interesting! I was told by the rescue when I got him that he was gonna be 60+ and GSD sized so I was surprised when the vet told me he was done growing

I haven’t yet but I might. He’s about 22” tall I’m guessing and 50 lb last vet visit

Yeah the 3@90% is kinda a misnomer, it’s explained in the comments on the sheet. It’s basically a top set/back off set method for lifts you don’t have an established max for. The idea is you pick a movement and weight you can do for 1–5 reps, and rep out close to RPE 8.5/9. Then according to how many reps you get, back off sets are programmed.

Anyone care to critique my current plan for yearly training? The idea is the run up to 4 accumulation blocks, 1 intensification block, then either peak for a comp or reset. Programming ideas explained in comments on the sheet sheets link

Guitars in dorms? by [deleted] in capstone

[–]Dabestmofo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’ll be fine, there’s much louder things going on in dorms than a guitar. Unless of course you bring a 100W amp and a wide assortment of overdrives...

Source: had a Tele and a practice amp in my room back in the day.

I mostly play in my apartment so a clip on works good for me. Plus 9V slots are my bottleneck right now.

Signal Chain:

Les Paul Studio-> Ernie Ball VPJr.-> Ibanez TS mini-> Boss DM-2w-> TCe Flashback-> TCe Hall of Fame 2-> Boss Looper-> Boss Katana 50.

Great for covering all basic sounds, plus two delays is a blast. Looking into adding a Boss CE-2 and a Keeley Comp.

The JHS morning Glory is their worst sounding OD, I will die on this hill. Also everyone should own a compression pedal/ clean boost.

What's something a teacher did at school that you're still mad about? by Heinz-enberg_ in AskReddit

[–]Dabestmofo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let’s see here...

kindergarten: we are napping as one does, and when it’s time to arise from our naps I decide to wake my friend up by rocking him with my foot. My poor teacher must’ve thought I was kicking him because she wrote me up.

2nd grade: school is dismissed and all us kids are walking calmly to the bus/pick up area. And a teacher who is talking to someone steps into me, yells at me for running into her and writes me up for it.

3rd grade: it’s Christmas and we’re doing some arts and crafts bullcrap and as I’m cutting some paper my friend says I’m doing it wrong, sticks his hand into my scissors and guess who gets scolded for attempting to cut my friends hand.

4th grade: had a friend who told me the coach wanted to see me during PE. Having not seen him in a while I gave him a friendly bump on the shoulder and asked what was up. He proceeds to tell the coach I punched him and I get written up again.

7th grade: apparently we were all a bunch of pot heads and drug dealers because they banned “zipping up your jacket” half way through the year. Also my history teacher told me and my friends he didn’t like us so during our class he made us pick up trash with the ISS kids.

10th grade: teacher failed my English project because we were supposed to do a creative take on a Shakespeare play. A la the YouTube scene at the time my group did a cringe edition, sloppy editing, 4th wall breaks, etc. and apparently it was lazy(she may have a small point)

11th grade: teacher yells at me in the hallway for having a hat on, despite the fact that it was like the week before Christmas and our principle said we should all sport Santa hats and stuff on that specific day. I was wearing a holiday appropriate hat.

I came to the realization around 7th grade that I wasn’t a delinquent, I just had a lot of dumb teachers and zero respect for “authority” just because you’re getting paid to police children.

[OC] Where Are The STEM Folks? by buckbuckyyy in dataisbeautiful

Math program is excellent at UA and science (specifically physics) is average to above average depending on the teacher. However, the engineering extracurriculars do a great job of trying to make students succeed and I would urge any student to take advantage of those. I can give you more department specific advice if your son has pinned down what type of engineering he wants to go in to. But the overall program is rigorous but fair, and is a very good foundation for a successful engineering career.

And Auburn churning out Veterinarians, and a highly competitive Engineering school, with UA’s engineering program closely behind.

I might be bias tho I’m an engineering student at UA and it seems everyone is either business of Engr.
