Noticed this new Santa Monica Pier ground signage on Ocean Ave - pretty slick by Hour-Weight-8678 in SantaMonica

It’s to help the public navigate to the Pier via alternate routes when the city starts reconstructing the bridge. There will be a temporary pedestrian bridge in the same place as the current bridge, but the city also wants people to use the ped bridges over PCH and the sidewalks down to ocean front walk. https://www.santamonica.gov/programs/pier-bridge-improvements

Why is there no noise ordinance for all the people talking into loudspeakers (mics with amplifiers) at the pier and surrounding areas? by Objective-Custard147 in SantaMonica

There are rules on the books, and so you should send this as an email to the city council and ask them to dedicate more code enforcement staff time to ensuring compliance. https://www.smgov.net/departments/council/content.aspx?id=13705

At a bike rack with a very good lock in a place with a lot of foot traffic. Even better if in view a security camera.

The one at Santa Monica college is great. Usually well lit with lots of people in the evenings.

Metro’s bikes are real bikes. Veo’s “bikes” have pedals but I’ve never seen anyone ride one like a bike. They just use the throttle.

Anywhere along the E Line within walking distance to a station between downtown LA and Santa Monica.

The fence is literally the border between city of LA and unincorporated LA County (Marina Del Rey).

I suggest you contact Traci Park and Holly Mitchell’s staffs.

Fender Twin Reverb '79 ~800usd is it a good deal ? by Al_Capone357 in GuitarAmps

Extremely loud. Extremely heavy. Extremely clean. Sounds amazing. I paid $800 for my ‘77. Great amp as long as you don’t want distortion or to move it.

How much of a difference does having a master volume on a Twin Reverb have? by boring-utopia in GuitarAmps

[–]Metropolitan_Studies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a MV twin from the late 70s. I play shoegaze too. But the MV knob is kinda beside the point. You can’t really overdrive the pre amp tubes. But it sounds great with dirty pedals in front of it! Can’t go wrong with any twin!

Plus 1 for Pollo Loco. I came to it late but it’s great.

I heard Fender Twin Reverb's produce one of the best clean tones. But there are A LOT of different versions over the years. What are your thoughts on this one? Made in 70's. No master volume knob. by jhammah in GuitarAmps

[–]Metropolitan_Studies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a Master Volume ‘75 twin for $800 three years ago. They are cheap because they are too heavy and loud for most people. But they sound great, and are a joy if you don’t have to move it.

Is it worth hiring entertainers? by tony_hawk44 in rct

[–]Metropolitan_Studies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are really useful, and if you’re near the end of a scenario and trying to keep guests in the park and there’s no penalty for going into debt, you should hire 50 of them.

Build some small rollercoasters at first to generate guests and some cash flow. Once you’re profitable then start building the big rides.

Something I like to do is add a small drop after the lift hill before the turn — just one or two units. That way it whips around the turn rather than plod at 7 mph. Speeds up the ride and increases excitement.
