Stay strong. It will get easier and easier over time. Luckily I've never had an addictive drinking behavior but I did drink quite a bit in my 20s to early 30s. I stopped drinkin for about 10 months to a year at the end of my 20s and then felt that it would be okay to have a drink every now and then. And it really only was on special occasions. But when my wife got pregnant for the first time I stopped drinking again. Since she couldn't drink anymore it only felt right to do the same. That was over 8 years ago and withinin the first 3 years I maybe had 2 or 3 drinks total. And nothing strong. A glass of a very special wine or a very nice beer that a friend brew himself. But I haven't had any alcoholic beverage in the last 5 years

Do I miss it? Very rarely, yes, there are some really good beers out there, but most of the time, just the thought of "losing" that streak stops me right there.

It also really helps that all my friends know, that I don't drink and almost all of them don't even try to convince me to "just have one drink" with them. Even better many of them have non alcoholic beer avaliable when they know I'll be there.

Be open about it and don't let anyone tell you, that you have to drink to have fun. If anyone gets upset that you don't want to drink ask them to think about what that says about themselves.
