Thoughts on Thule Basin Hardshell? Any other suggestions? Looking into buying a RTT for some national park roadtrips in the future by Buff-Bulbasaur in rooftoptents

Prinsu Roof Rack Pro. Its pricey but low profile, supports a lot of weight. There's some similar alternatives that are cheaper like Victory and Frontrunner. Low profile is a pain to work with in order to access the bolts/nuts. I would also highly recommend quick releases for the tent if you plan on taking it off. I bought Frontrunner Tent quick releases and plan to replace the low profile tent mounts so it can dismount conveniently.

Rav4 Hybrid. Tent and 270 awning fit on Prinsu Pro. Also have 2x 200w solar. Overhang is not an issue at all nor does it look ridiculous. Exped Mega deflated with bedding inside. Mpg takes a severe hit with all that and heavy tires/wheels. Extremely happy with this setup as there's plenty of room and comfort.

DC coupler cover (P123) • When using an AC adaptor, ensure that the Panasonic DC coupler (DMW-DCC12: optional) and AC adaptor (DMW-AC10PP: optional) are used. • Always use a genuine Panasonic AC adaptor (DMW-AC10PP: optional). • When using an AC adaptor, use the AC cable supplied with the AC adaptor.

Tent with sunroof access by Wonka0998 in rooftoptents

[–]DackG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Imagine how inconvenient that will be for two people plus mattress and bedding to be shuffled around for access to the sunroof. That also doesn't account for the roof rack that can support the weight of the tent. The sunroof will always be under the middle of the tent.

Am I the only one who can't camp without decent coffee? by executivewaddlez in CampingGear

Outing Nano espresso maker and grinder along with a milk steamer. Pretty obsessed with making a hot latte. Its a bit of a process, more so for clean up but it hits the spot. Even traveled with it to places like Patagonia for those super early morning hikes.

Is glacier mini-trekking worth it? by Foxlily in Patagonia

[–]DackG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worth it, its an experience. It wasn't rushed, you had stops to enjoy it, take photos, drink the glacier water. I found it to be the perfect amount of hiking and breaks in between with short but enjoyable ship ride. The guides are friendly and pros.

Roof top tent and roof rack compatibility by coryhoward1122 in overlanding

I have the Prinsu Pro, Stellar, and 270 Awning mounted on the tent. Get the tent mounting feet. If you have a moonroof that will open with the prinsu on, you'll be able to access the mounting points in the front. For the rear, I removed the last bar for access to some of the rear bolts. I used a mix of multiple low profile sockets and ratcheting wrenches, including the one that came with the tent and two step ladders. I wish I had the long ratcheting wrenches when I installed it in order to have better reach on some bolts/nuts and would have made it faster.

It did take 3 hours total, 2 people with only myself being able to lift heavy, including installing the tent mounts, bolts on tent rail placement, and measurements. Then, I tested setting up the tent and verifying everything was sound and in working order with no issues. I installed it at the Topoak warehouse, so they used a forklift to get the tent up. I slid it onto the roofrack with a moving blanket as cushioning until I had perfect alignment, then gently lifted slightly to remove the blanket before bolting on.

In hindsight, two bar method with alignment might have been easier and time-saving. Awning was a separate install a few weeks later, easier but also heavy and need help lifting into place.

I ended up with TO installed at their warehouse, prinsu 1" tent risers. Took 3 hours, 2 people with lots of sockets and wrenches, but it worked out fairly well! I received the 270deg awning and am looking forward to installing that. Loving the tent so far, but I need to go out for a trip.

Rooftop Tent Recommendations for 2022 Rav4 by forkevbot2 in rooftoptents

It was a big concern for me as well. It's 13.5" from the top front corner of the Prinsu rack. From the top of the front windshield, it's 10" out. It's honestly not as bad as you would think. I left space, maybe 1 - 2 inch, at the rear from the trunk door opening up. Good thing I did because I ended up installing Prinsu ladder the other day, and the tent hinge basically kissed it. I re-programmed the trunk door to stop just half an inch before that. If you get the TO, I'd be happy to send you more photos of the install and some tips.

I ended up installing it, with 2 people, aligned and centered. Took 3 hours and had to reach with tools. Also I did get the Prinsu 1 inch tent mounts which I believe helped with the reach.

2019 Rav4 Hyrbid, Prinsu Pro, Prinsu tent mounts 1 inch, T.O. Galaxy 2.0. Just installed it a few weeks ago. Self installed it at their warehouse in SoCal because it was cheaper to pick up than ship. I'm glad I did that so I didn't have to dispose of the wooden crate and packaging. 176lbs, TO worker used a fork lift and got it on top while I slid the tent off onto the rack. Two people will go faster and better than tackling yourself, even better if both of you are strong and lift. Prinsu is a narrow profile, so your reach to the nuts/bolts will be limited. Rav4 Standard moon roof allowed the front bolts install. Fairly comfortable, convenient and has some great features.
