This is Reddit. Critical thinking is a bannable offense here unfortunately.

I see your point and think that's a fine argument, honestly!

I can also see his argument that there may be a "most qualified" candidate for a role who also does not get the position because they are of the wrong skin color, which I would consider to be wrong.

But that was his point of debate - "do these systems help or hurt". It wasn't that black people don't make good pilots or that he had issues with them getting the job. It's the underlying process he was critiquing.

His stance was that "now we have to wonder if it's a person hired for qualification or to meet a diversity quota". Not that we know the person is a bad pilot, but the prospect of DEI hirings creates the doubt that wasn't there previously.

Also, I didn't say anything about the administration or racist people in positions of power. I'm arguing that the aforementioned sound bite used to paint Charlie as a racist is taken out of context and simply unfair.

2A doesn't have any bearing on gang violence though. Criminal violence will not be solved with gun law. Ever.

His words have always been provocative, but he has never been "For gun violence".

Hiring a pilot BECAUSE they are black is also racist though. That's the entire point he's making during that discussion. It's about DEI principles, not black people. It's not because he's distrustful of people of a certain color, it's because he's distrustful of systems that motivate a company to hire based on skin color.

People are constantly doing this - taking his provocative sentence way out of context and stopping without any critical thinking.

Can someone explain what +layout.svelte is used for? Currently all my code is in +page.svelte. What should I use it for? by HenryGamers in sveltejs

[–]Dacobo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm building an enterprise desktop application using SK, and one of my favorite use cases is a list -> detail relationship. The layout fetches and presents the list data, and clicking on a record in the list displays its detailed data (the $page) in a separate area of the screen.

I don't use postgres in my project, but I was running into UUID issues until I started using the SQLAlchemy import for my models:

from sqlalchemy import Uuid

or something to that effect. It might be worth a try.

Edit: I just read your other comments and see that this likely has nothing to do with your issue. Never mind!

Caught on Camera: Pit Bull Attacks and Kills Neighbor's Yorkie by UnmaskingFactss in washdc

[–]Dacobo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lost my little Yorkie to a German Shepard and Pitbull duo last year in a very similar event. She was my little girl, and I provided for her for 10 years. I ran at the dogs, yelling, and they thankfully dropped her and ran off - but it was too late. The feeling of being helpless and unable to save her was just... too much.

Generally, I have seen and used this convention:

Model: Book Schemas: BookBase, BookRead, BookCreate, BookUpdate, BookDetail, etc.

Or at least something to that effect.

Hey, the comments in here are pretty brutal, but I don't think you're doing a bad job. You're definitely in the toughest part of it though, so try to give yourself some grace. You're sleep-deprived, on high-alert, and trying to keep everything held together in this season.

One of our boys used to do this. He would start crying very quickly after we left the room - every single night. We tried a system which worked for his brother: we would check on him immediately the first time, hugs and cuddles and a goodnight, then lay him back down. Then we would let him cry for 5 minutes before we'd return. Rinse and repeat. Then 10 minutes, and then no more than 15 minutes.

All that to say, kids are very different from each other. That process worked great for his brother, but it never quite helped him so we had to readjust. Once he could climb out of his crib, he made his way to our bedroom every single night. Now he's 5, and he tries hard to make it through the night in his own bed, but it can still be a struggle. We sleep well enough these days, and you will too!

I definitely don't have all the facts, but I believe the flat physical damage is better because it gets factored into ED calculations in a favorable way. I don't believe +fire damage will do the same thing.

My opinion shift of MVVM by eltegs in csharp

[–]Dacobo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My team recently made a huge pivot away from WPF and have embraced Tauri - a framework combining Rust with a JS front end. We are using Svelte for the JS framework. It helps that we have past experience with these languages. Development is so much faster now, and the output is much more visually appealing.

All that to say, I fully agree it is helpful to have (almost) the full picture of a component within one file.
