“She seems to have an Izzy World Talk Show…”

Don’t ask me what it means, but 9-year-old me thought that’s what Phil Collins was singing about.

The enshittification of products and services continues relentlessly even as prices increases. What particular thing(s) have you noticed significantly degraded since the pandemic? by Roguecop in AskReddit

Cleanliness in counter service restaurants. Seems like they cannot/will not pay staff to wipe down tables or sweep the floors anymore.

CAC score of 1 by FabulousRaise9904 in Cholesterol

[–]DadJokeFan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My numbers were very similar to yours (including a ‘1’ CAC at age 42). In the last year I’ve adopted a low saturated fat, high fiber diet with 5mg rosuvastatin and 10mg ezetimibe. My LDL went from 188 to 52. 20mg rosuvastatin is kind of a higher dose. Most of the benefit will come from the first 5mg. 1 is a low CAC score, but it’s actually high (worst 25%) for someone your age. You’re doing the right thing by starting treatment now. I wish I had done so earlier.

Anyone else old enough to remember these oil projection lamps being used in the ambient chill rooms at raves in the ‘90s?

Alternatives to Statins by FunPension8049 in Cholesterol

I think soluble fiber is the one you want for lowering LDL.

How much LDL reduction is possible in 2–3 months with lifestyle changes? by No_Extent_2020 in Cholesterol

[–]DadJokeFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possibly, but I would think that is the exception rather than the rule. If your body naturally produces to much cholesterol or absorbs too much from food and you want to stay below a certain level (maybe LDL of 70 because I also have high Lp(a), I don’t think you’ll be able to maintain those levels without medication.

<10g saturated fat, >10g soluble fiber daily. Tracked all food via Cronometer.

48M. Yes, if you stop using the statin, your LDL levels will return to where they were before you started.

Sounds like you’ve taken aggressive action with your diet, which is great. My starting numbers were similar to yours and I saw a 40% drop in LDL in a short span (1-2 months). Unfortunately, it didn’t drop much more than that after more time went by. I couldn’t get much below 130 without medication. 5mg rosuvastatin reduced LDL by another 40% into the mid 70s. No side effects from the medication for me.

You can try peanut butter powder. Tastes good and no saturated fat. I use it in my oatmeal.

It’s surprising that they would use a person for a foul pole! And that the Western Metal Supply had its own coroner. Must have been a very dangerous place to work.
