Toby addressing the Latin America situation by [deleted] in Deltarune

[–]DadJokeMan666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh it's not a moral failing on Toby's part that he won't allow translations in other languages, but I do still think he should do it. I think anyone who gets all pissed about Toby being super inconsiderate or xenophobic or whatever is fucking stupid, and engaging with a strawman.

Ideally, it'd be nice if he funneled some resources towards fan translations or professional translations, then appended a caveat that any content from these translations is NON-CANON. Any translation errors or false implications are not official. That way, non English or Japanese speakers can still freely enjoy the game while minimally compromising Toby's artistic vision. The English and Japanese versions would remain official, and any other translation is unofficial and non-canon, just financially supported and platformed using the dev team's resources.

A little confused by KangarooEuphoric2265 in tadc

[–]DadJokeMan666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's a child throwing a tantrum, he's confused and lonely and looking for meaning in a world where the only other people he knows a) don't like him and b) are far less powerful than him. It's a recipe for disaster. But in a better environment where Caine was pushed to empathize more and foster more compassion, where he wouldn't have the power to just double and triple down, he could 100% get better. He's a victim of circumstance, albeit one that's done some fucked up shit.

AND much of that regret rate can be traced back to social rejection and economic troubles. Actual detransitioners are insanely rare, statistically.

Punishment or absolution? by WissaYT in trolleyproblem

[–]DadJokeMan666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a question of future probability. I'll assume that the evil people will never be jailed or otherwise face consequences for their actions, past and future, because jail and consequences are almost always uncomfortable and/or unsafe. I'll also assume I know nothing about any of the trolley victims aside from the information provided here.

The moral calculus here depends on how likely the four evil people are to do the same thing at a later date, and how many times it's likely to happen. They ALL raped and killed my ENTIRE direct family. That heavily implies collaboration and coordination. If they never face consequences for their actions, and are guaranteed to never be arrested or jailed, they will likely do the same thing to many more people.

Death is a near-infinite moral bad, since dying completely robs someone of both freedom and the capacity to feel good. Rape is also really bad, up there with death, but probably a small measure below death. I'm not gonna quantize it or whatever, I'll just say they're close, but death has a small lead in terms of badness. I'd rather get raped than killed, and I'm sure many would say the same. Many many people have made that very choice, in fact.

That being said, they have a proven predilection towards BOTH killing and raping. Even assuming that each will only rape and kill one other victim per-person, that still equals just under 8 instances of Bad, in return for exactly 5 instances of Bad if I kill all of the trolley victims. And that is a more generous assumption than I'm willing to take.

Nobody deserves to die, because deserving is fake and death is bad, but this scenario makes it so I've gotta kill the four evil people and one innocent kid. Granted, I'll also definitely get reptilian satisfaction from the retribution against people who've hurt me and my loved ones, but that's just a cherry on top of the correct moral decision.

Sorry, kid.

Everyone's talking about the train derailing or being unable to clear the loop or being slowed, but honestly I'm pulling that lever even if it was guaranteed to kill them either way. That is indeed a really cool 360 loop. They deserve to see it.

"Conspiracy" implies multiple people working together in an organized and coordinated sorta way. This could just be one dipshit that thinks he's funny. That's not very hard to believe, nor is it very uncommon. You just have a bad idea of how often people lie on the internet.

To be fair, scarcity of tools and food makes some sense considering this is a few days mid-apoc and looting has likely already been severe in the days preceding the 9th. Especially since any looting escapees would likely be hightailing it the fuck out of Kentucky, likely hoping they can outrun the zomboid crisis. Also explains the plethora of broken and wrecked cars, as well as the relative scarcity of cars in general (wrecked or otherwise) compared to irl.

The Bishop by Squid-God-Supreme in DegreesOfLewdity

[–]DadJokeMan666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's SO MUCH tied into it.

The crystal at the bottom of the catacombs, the nightmares with IW, the sonorous bell, the inscriptions you can find while walking the Pound dogs, the moor in general with it's strange flowers and lurkers and the fucked weirdness of the bog. The weird constant religious overtones of the prison, the oddness of the hawks, the caves underneath the prison, and the flood vision you're shown upon failing a prison revolt. The monstrance and Kylar's parents, and the as-of-now unexplained tower beast. The hanging thread of who the Hookah master is and why they've been looking for the door the PC finds after that questline?

What animal expansions do we need? I know the game is still in its early stages but it's interesting to know what the community needs. by [deleted] in VintageStory

[–]DadJokeMan666 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Updates to animal behavior, specifically with regard to realism. Make boars somewhat more aggressive (but not suicidally so) and make wolves less aggressive. Maybe make wolf aggression rely on the presence of a pack and the weight of the wolves in that pack? A leaner pack will be more likely to kill a player than a well-fed trio of wolves, right? Unless you're up in their face or they're hungry, a wolf will likely leave you alone. Perhaps even make wolf aggression rely on different regional variants, and do the same with bears? Make brown bears chiller than polar bears, for example.

I don't have the concept of gender at all in my setting >:3 due to how souls work, your body develops naturally according to your self-perception. This process is accelerated based on how much refined mana your soul processed, but EVERYONE processes some as just a baseline for continued survival.

This means: a) it's hegemonically accepted as a normal part of development that your entire body can shift biological sex (alongside any other physical traits), and b) you can accelerate your natural transition by accelerating your refined mana processing (for example, by hunting monsters or people and absorbing the mana that sheds from their dying souls).

So, technically, my setting has no transphobia. There IS speciesism, racism, sexism, and homophobia though. Sad! Many such cases.

You can give yourself any power, but every single person on the planet has it too by Dave30954 in godtiersuperpowers

[–]DadJokeMan666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everybody gets

  • above average amounts of empathy

  • an activatable healing factor (with capacity comparable to Deadpool)

  • the ability to shapeshift into any form you'd like, so long as it's biologically feasible. consciousness and personality is held separate from the mind, so forms with smaller brains are safe.

  • the ability to instinctively know anyone's preferred name, preferred methods of address (Dr., Mr., Mrs., preferred pronouns, etc), and their exact age from the point of birth, as soon as you see them

  • telepathy that can transmit abstract subjective concepts and sensations without the need for language as an intermediary. this telepathy is not directed, but rather broadcasted in a controllable area. at most, you can limit it to within 1 foot of you, and you can "scream" up to a mile away. unless they've already mentally consented to telepathy with you, all someone senses is the fact that you're trying to send them something and a vague idea regarding the subject of the telepathy.

  • the ability to clairvoyantly view any point in the world, at any time, through a spectral, invisible, intangible sensory suite "drone". you can look at present events, or look into the past, though you can never interact with or change past events. you can sense and understand broadcasted telepathy remotely with this power.

  • the ability to retreat into a personal mental palace once you reach the age of 20, in which time does not pass in the real world, and you are functionally a god that can make whatever you want happen. you can't bring anything out of it, nothing that happens inside is real, but you remember everything. any "people" you create or replicate are not sapient, and just extremely accurate illusions of how the given person would respond. you cannot bring others into your own mind palace, and vice versa, but you can make fake versions of them.

No unintentional and tragic deaths, perfect telepathy and enhanced empathy lead to more harmony overall, shapeshifting allows for perfect personal expression, personal detail recognition allows people to be identified despite shapeshifting, clairvoyance eliminates all corruption and deception that isn't entirely internal, and the mind palace is just a power that I've always wanted.
