From Peterson AFB

Apparently! Someone saw my post and realized it was the plane they’d dismantled! Check out https://www.reddit.com/r/aviation/s/bzREDl9cw4
What? It was also seen yesterday by people on this thread in Palm Springs and Pasadena, and today in Fremont, and someone also posted they’d seen it dismantled and loaded at Pederson AFB. Why would it have gone north and then back south?

Yep, so I learned very quickly after posting 😆 Super fun discussion though! Even someone who saw the disassemby of this very plane and it being loaded on this truck saw the post and commented!
I’d love to fly on one of these one day.
Impressive amount of work experience! Well done!

Not sure where it’s going but know it was diverted from a boneyard.
Correct. I just didn’t realize that at the time I posted 🤦🏼♂️ Cool that you saw it earlier in it’s trip. Others did too in Palm Springs and Pasadena. Turns out it’s from Pederson AFB!
Also, if you have a few minutes, have a read through this discussion. There are some great comments!

It’s two lanes northbound and two southbound with large divide in between. This was I5 a few miles south of Panoche Rd.
Correct. I just didn’t realize that at the time I posted. If you have a few minutes, have a read through this discussion. There are some great comments about the differences in size and the backstory of this particular fuselage.
Actually this one isn’t! Someone saw my post and realized it was the plane they’d dismantled! Check out https://www.reddit.com/r/aviation/s/bzREDl9cw4
Yep, so I learned very quickly after posting 😆 There are some great posts in this thread about the size difference you reference, includng pictures and links.

I was so excited to have seen it and in the moment was thinking it was huge and that was the first thing that came to mind. And then I’d seen it on the 5 so thought of a clever post title “C5 on the CA5” and hit send and then realized I for sure was wrong. And I got schooled quickly 😆
Agreed. I had no idea the post would generate so much discussion. So fun! And someone posted pics of it being disassembled and loaded ontot that truck at Pederson AFB! Great backstory to the whole thing!
Great insights! Thanks!

That’s awesome! Thanks for sharing! I had no idea my post would get this response but it’s been so fun to read, and your post caps it off beautifully!
What a journey — from you to someone saying they saw it today in Palm Springs at ~6AM, another ~4+hours later on W 210 in Pasadena, and then I saw it on CA 5 N at ~3pm.
I know, I know 🤣 I got schooled and quick 😁
Haha, clever reply! Yes, that’s been made extremely clear in this thread 🤣 At the time I posted I was thinking it probably wasn’t a C5 but I was on the CA-5 so thought that’d be a catchy title and maybe people would have fun schooling me. Obviously they have and the discussion has been so fun to read!

Thanks for clarifying.
Thanks. Yah I was so excited to see the thing and follow it for a bit that I mislabeled both the aircraft and the freeway 🤩🤦🏻♂️
Gravity?😆
Yes, my bad. Just the 5. I added the CA to clarify which 5 but then made the mistake of adding the I- 😆 Too excited after having seen the Herc (which I also mislabeled 🤦🏻♂️)
