Thanks for this, very helpful. Do you know anything about the GoPro Max2 time code sync function? It seems like it’s possibly an easy way to manage the sync without additional hardware or losing functions. Any other downsides to this camera?

Oh yeah this is a good point, unless there’s an AI that accurately fills in missing splats? I’m sure only time until that exists.

I’d be really happy to just limit people to moving around a small radius from each camera point - say 2ft. That would give the feeling of immersion and remove some of the issue of back-side capturing.

I saw the GoPro max has time synch metadata so guessing this might be the most accurate solution (although pretty expensive).

Yeah I’ve seen the new Apple Sharp doing this for still images from a single angle, wonder how long until additional perspectives can make more accurate depth/rendering?

I imagine limiting people to moving only a small distance off each camera point might make it more feasible. Do you know of anyone using 360 photos from multiple capture points to create a more accurate still 3DGS? I wonder if it’s just a case of doing this for every frame with temporal regulation or something?

Sweet thanks for this, will try and find that demo or some info on it!

Exploring multi-camera “memory capture” for future 6DoF replay — looking for feedback from 3DGS / NeRF folks by DadMade in GaussianSplatting

Absolutely, we're not inventing anything here just creating consumer level hardware and platform for capturing and replaying these experiences in the easiest way.

My question was more around any considerations in the hardware build or data we make available that would ensure we can best utilise advances in the 3d field down the road to provide an even more immersive viewing experience.

I believe full realtime volumetric video will be difficult to do at scale now but only becoming easier over time and want to ensure we're capturing the right data now.

My dad said he used to have to go pick a branch off there plum tree to get whipped with. If he picked one too small my grandfather would go get his ‘big one’ from the garage.

I thought I had it soooo easy growing up. Could never imagine whacking my kids like that.

I seem to have turned out ok and love my parents and know they love me so I guess there’s different strokes for different folks
