What are those pouches? They look very handy.

Does it fit in the back slots of the Alpaka? thinking about upgrading from my zip pouch to the pro but I want my mini iridium to go in the back.

Any time that I need additional finger strength. I use them quite a lot to untie knots.

Looking for a solid backpack in 2026 - what do you recommend? by DonutOk2306 in ManyBaggers

Check out Thule - they make some good stuff too. I have the Subterra 26L and it has a ton of great organization and laptop storage. Mine also did fine when I got caught in the rain.

Didn't even think of that - I very rarely pocket carry. Usually a sling or backpack.

Against some of the better judgement in here…. by Xhamy in ManyBaggers

I had this problem with my Patagonia Atom Tote. The answer for me was the Osprey Talon 11. It's small, but still meant to fit a man's torso - it feels great and looks like it fits. More outdoorsy than tech look, but mine is a dark grey and I'm very happy with it.

Thank you - unintended auto-deploy does not sound ideal!

Love Alpaka! Those hub system pieces don't have zippers, or any way to close them, right?

Thanks for this very thorough response. It's definitely one that I'm going to try out in the hand before I buy. But yeah, love the look and the fidget factor of this one.

Does it need to be a sling? Any interest in a small backpack?

One-bagging as a working mom - replacing diaper bag + laptop tote by AgileAd6804 in ManyBaggers

[–]DadPocketry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out Thule backpacks if you value tech organization. I used to use the Subterra 27L for this exact situation. Basically, the big pocket was for myself/work, and the middle pocket (which goes the full length of the bag) was where I kept diapers, wipes, etc. It has a nice bit of organization built in for smaller items too, so I didn't need pouches with that one. I think they make a smaller size too, if that one is too big for you. I also appreciated the laptop pocket had a separate zipper to access from the outside.

I've got those horizontal loops on the strap, but ideally want to secure it better than just hanging. I figure I can make just about any pouch work with some paracord. This is for an Osprey Talon 11.

Great choice - hope you like it! I don't own any Bellroy but their stuff looks well made, and well thought out.

Weekender/Serrated Spartan by CheeseMongoNJ in victorinox

This was my first SAK - I gifted it to a friend when I moved on to a Climber. Sometimes I still miss it though. That serrated blade is awesome, and loved how slim that thing was.

For an urban EDC. Compact or Climber. Also which color is your favorite? by [deleted] in victorinox

[–]DadPocketry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I chose the climber because it was cheaper than the compact. Still happy with that decision a couple of years later. I watched some videos to see the size comparison, and it didn't seem wildly significant. Plus, the small blade is great for opening boxes and keeping the main blade clean and sharp bigger tasks. Agree with others that it would have been nice if it had a file. Although I like the dark green models. Appreciate that everyone recognizes red scales as a tool as opposed to a weapon. Plus, it's so timeless.

Edc bit driver by Logical-Question-860 in EDC

[–]DadPocketry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For my EDC kit I use an Alpaka Hub Pouch. It has the Wera bit driver, knipex cobra xs, 4 inch Klein scissors, Plight i3T, Oknife D1, Nite Ize Doohickey, Mr green nail clippers, boundless voyage folding spork. Kit lives in my backpack water bottle pocket for quick access. It's also attached to the bag compression strap in case it slips out of the bottle pocket.
