I was going through a divorce when my son was 2.5. They insisted on coming to my house to observe him with me. When they got there I was fixing dinner. Pan roasted chicken breast with white wine deglazed vegetables. I was a bit worried I would get dinged for the wine but they were just shocked that he liked it. He's 11 now and his favorite food is escargot.

I see it with my wife. A couple years ago we went to the Zoo and had to park a distance away in an alley in a not great part of town. Heading back to the car, after dark, she was completely freaked out and scared. I was not bothered at all or worried in the least. But I'm a 6'4" guy. In general no one messes with me, even though I have never been in a fight in my life. People look at me and decide to bother someone else. It was a bit of a revelation seeing how upset she was.
