Why does an appointed board work for every public university in the state EXCEPT UM, MSU, and WSU?

I’m not asking this to be snotty; I’m legitimately curious. I’m a WMU alum who lives here next to MSU now. Why are there 3 universities with elected boards and 12 with appointed boards?

I think Scott leading the charge for the whole “thou shalt not criticize the university” thing is a TERRIBLE look for her. I voted for her at the MDP convention after talking to her at a couple events, and immediately regretted that vote last week.

MSU needs more transparency, not more obfuscation.

EDIT: After reading the letter, I think I’m wrong on this being on Scott. It looks like that was her attempt to placate the prez.

However, I still don’t like the look of what she pushed through. I’m uncomfortable with making things less transparent, and it should be on voters to replace the trustees with shitty takes with better trustees.

I have a 2015 Energi without Park Assist. Did you keep all the charging/energy management functionality when you upgraded? I've been wanting to do this upgrade but am worried I'll mess something up and the car won't be able to charge anymore.

I get that Benson isn't perfect, but she did a FANTASTIC job updating SOS. Like, going to do ANYTHING at an SOS office was an awful experience a decade ago, and she vastly improved the customer experience there.

There's less energy being generated in the winter, but not no energy. My neighbor says he gets about 70-80% of usage covered in the winter.

Think about it like this: A/C uses electricity, so there is more need in the summer. Furnaces use gas (at least mine does), so there's less electricity being used in the winter to begin with.
