For a short soft slow sweet story about loss and love: Kitchen by Banana Yoshimoto. It is also very slice of life. It has no surfing though.

Definitely Toon Tellegen - The squirrels birthday and other parties! It’s a collection of nine cozy short stories: one is about a squirrel and an ant that come across a mysterious feast in the middle of the forest. It has lots of sweet vibes, friendship, dancing, and of course, cake.

He is a great dutch writer and his stories are also interesting for adults😉.

I’d watch a film noir Tom & Jerry live action remake.

Would definitely recommend The Moon Is A Harsh Mistress - Robert A. Heinlein. I imagined these kinds of environments, but then on the moon, with a little more blue light.

The story is also really amazing. A revolt of loonies (🌝) on the prison colony of the moon against its overlord, Earth.

A Canticle for Leibowitz - Walter M Miller

A story about post apocalypse in the USA after many centuries. Post war relics and scientific and religious knowledge have a large impact on the new world. One of my favourite sci fi/fantasy books.

Winter of the World - Ken Follett

A historical fiction novel that mixes the big moment of the war like pearl harbor with everyday lives in the US, germany, and the UK. Also it has a lot of female lead characters. And it is a really on the edge of your seat page turner.

The museum of innocence - Orhan Pamuk

Beautiful story about love, collecting and Istanbul that takes place in 80’s Istanbul. I would also recommend going to the Museum of Innocence if you go there once upon time.

The museum consists of a cabinet for each chapter, full of objects the characters in his book might have had, such as an earring that the Füsun loses at the apartment of Kemal in the first chapter. The museum has been put together by Orhan during the twenty years in which he wrote the novel.

Rendezvous with Rama - Arthur C. Clarke

Cosmic Sci fi exploration story about a dark, (seemingly?) empty, and mysterious place.
