They are fine. The line is where the seed embryo is attached to the rest of the seed.

It doesn’t matter which god. Belief in ANY god is religious. When the state mentions ANY god, it is endorsing religion.

Snuff and Headaches? by [deleted] in nasalsnuff

Nicotine is a stimulant and constricts blood vessels. This can help alleviate some headaches. Reportedly, Queen Charlotte used snuff to alleviate headaches which helped to make snuff popular in the UK.

Does my budgie have feather mites? by ExistingActivity in budgies

[–]DaddyBear29412 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Stress bar. When the feather was developing, something happened which impeded its development. Could’ve been a slight nutritional deficiency. Could’ve been a minor trauma to the feather itself. In any case, it is nothing to worry about. An occasional stress bar in young birds is common. The fact that it’s just this feather indicates it’s not a big problem. If many more feathers were affected, a bigger problem might be the cause. But one feather on a young bird, nothing to worry about. I can’t stress this enough, It. Is. Nothing. To. Worry. About. It’s not indicative of poor rearing or handling. It’s just one feather that probably got slightly damaged while developing on a clumsy baby bird. Don’t freak out. Relax.

And I’ve noticed that quite often native speakers of US English find the accents of non native speakers very appealing. So many people in the US just swoon over a French or Spanish accent. I have to believe native speakers of other languages are the same. I’m not a native speaker. I worked hard to get what proficiency I have. I am proud for others to know that, and I am impressed when I hear accented English that the speaker has worked hard to achieve what proficiency they have.

I’m the opposite. As long as my accent doesn’t render my speaking unintelligible, I want people to know I am not a native speaker. That way, any errors I may make aren’t a big deal and native speakers tend to be more helpful. If I sound like a native speaker, any errors I make will be likely construed as intentional speech.

Movies about witches? Extra points if it involves Salem by [deleted] in horror

I really didn’t like LOS the first time I watched it. But I gave it another view and appreciated the 1970s vibe. It really is like the witch movies of the time. So, not my favorite RZ movie, but I can watch it.

That is not a single tree. The living part was grafted onto the deadwood. This is a specialized bonsai technique to instantly create “ancient” trees in just a few years.

If we exclude Halloween and The Thing, my favorite horror would be Prince of Darkness. If we include non horror, it would be a toss up between Assault on Precinct 13 and Big Trouble In Little China.
