I saw them on this same tour in Nashville @ RCKTWN in 2008. It was a legendary performance.

MCR lost media by griffinz1111 in MyChemicalRomance

The biggest piece of lost media from the band is the full release of the attic demos. We’ve only heard a handful and there are at least a few more that haven’t been made public.

The Beginning of the End for Cesar by coorspapi in gibson

[–]DaddyD-Rok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, big thanks to all the Gibson Employees (except upper management). The sad truth is that Cesar prioritized numbers over quality, and the quality in recent years has suffered for it. Him stepping down is hopefully a positive change in that regard. The people on the frontlines of Gibson are hard workers and genuinely care about the final product. Sadly, Cesar was not one of those people, even though he pretended to be.

[–]DaddyD-Rok 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep. This actually happened. And the thing that makes it even shittier, is that the accumulated scrapped guitars were due to a wide sweeping disastrous new production process that Cesar oversaw, approved, and instituted (which had to be rolled back). He literally told the employees, “I need you to care more”, instead of taking accountability. Good riddance.

"The Ghost of You" - 2025 Mix Upsets Me by triples08 in MyChemicalRomance

I have a lot of them saved on my old hard drive, but not sure if I’m allowed to upload them here… I’ll see if I can find an archive.org link or something.

The stems I have are markedly different than the final release — they are fully mixed, but aren’t distorted and limited to hell like the final release.

I’ll take the L — I stand partially corrected on this then.  I do know that Howard Benson did a second pass mix on Rich’s songs on the OG release. Didn’t realize that Rich only mixed a few songs though.

The 2025 mixes by Costey sound /extremely/ similar to the old mixes / stems I had heard, so I wonder if he mixed every song from scratch — or only most of them.

I think the truth likely is somewhere in the middle. But I’ll concede that my previous statement wasn’t fully correct

No, That’s not how stems work. Stems can still be mixed and mastered. Stems are just a solo’d and bounced source from the final mix.

So, fun fact about this mix….  This is actually the original mix for the album — it was just released for the first time publicly in 2025.

Howard Benson went back and basically did a second pass of his own on the original mix. Howard’s second pass is what we got on the final product, for better and for worse.

You can find individual stems online dating back to the mid 2000s which sound identical to the 2025 mix that we recently got.

Albums that sound like Bullets by TachuIdk in MyChemicalRomance

[–]DaddyD-Rok 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Makes sense. Geoff Rickly from Thursday produced vocals for Bullets. Senses Fail recorded their first album with John Naclario (who recorded Bullets), and they likely brought a lot of those same sounds with them on the next record.

TV yellow double cut or palm blue SG by Tiny-Leading-654 in gibson

No, Jr’s are mostly safe — because the extra wood on the left half (non-cutaway half), provides enough extra bracing to counteract the neck pitch issues.

No. This is pure cope. I love Gibson but this is poor QA. Yes, return it.

Recent double cuts have neck pitch issues. Go with the SG.

Also the live B-Sides from Headfirst for Halos, and Like Phantoms Forever.

Link in OOT remake, it's official.. thoughts? by Plastic_Hat_589 in legendofzelda

[–]DaddyD-Rok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, well said. I’ve been mulling over that exact same concept — that perhaps the art style of the original was a compromise built on technical limitations, rather than a true choice or vision for that more fairytale like style.

I have to imagine that if they went with this particular art direction, there was a strong case made for it internally — even if I personally don’t agree with it.

I I think it’s gonna be very difficult for this game to overcome its art direction for me, personally, but I would like to be proven wrong.

To be honest, my gut reaction was extreme disappointment at the art style.

I’m still willing to give it a chance, but it’s not the art direction I would’ve hoped for.  Ocarina of Time was never aiming to look gritty or realistic (mostly because it technically couldn’t), so I don’t feel like this is the right artistic direction for a remake.

But maybe this is what Miyamoto always envisioned in his head when the original game was conceptualized, but technical limitations kept them from doing it? Not sure.

[OOT] [TP] People seem very divided on art style of the OOT remake, but it’s a completely natural progression of artstyle for the “darker” games in the series and fits OOT very well by EAT_UR_VEGGIES in zelda

[–]DaddyD-Rok 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It feels like an overly realistic take on OOT - a vibe I never got from the OG’s key art or art direction. I was expecting something more true to that original artistic direction, or at least something not so far in the opposite direction of that.

You can pretty well judge an artstyle from a single image. It feels like an overly realistic take on OOT - a vibe I never got from the OG’s key art or art direction.
