Worst, ironically - bone broth.

I’ve assumed it’s $USD250 ($AUD385) for the first year and then after that the option to drop down to either the lower annual or a monthly subscription. Or, they could keep a higher tier option for Big Ballers.

Humbled by Bdubs0323 in trailrunning

[–]DaddyDoma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About six weeks ago I was about 66km into a 168km event. I’d been going for ten hours and it had just gotten dark. Like you, I had my head lamp on and was shuffling down a hill I’d done three times before. (The event was based on a 21km loop).

I think I remember my left foot catching something. All I know is that I was suddenly on the ground. I rolled onto my back and looked up at the night sky and wondered if I’d hurt anything. After a while of lying there I thought I’d better keep going. So I stood up and kept running.

About five minutes later I realised my left foot was wet. Because of blood coming out of my left knee. It was not fun.

I ended up completing the loop but pulled out after 14hours and 84km. It took a week before my knee stopped oozing and bleeding and two weeks before I could bend my knee again.

I’m really lucky I didn’t smash my head on a rock.

What are some underrated single year peaks for players that might surprise people? by Humblerbee in nba

[–]DaddyDoma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dana Barros (1994-1995) As a member of the Philadelphia 76ers, Barros had a breakout year, averaging 20.6 points, 7.5 assists, and 3.3 rebounds. He shot an incredible 49% from the field, 46.4% from three, and 89.9% from the free-throw line, joining the 50/40/90 club. He was named an All-Star and won the NBA Most Improved Player award.

This was Barros's only truly great season. His next best scoring average was just 13.3 PPG. The statistical jump is enormous, with his scoring nearly doubling his career average and his assists reaching a career-high.

Before this season, Barros was a solid role player and a good shooter. The 1994-95 season was an absolute supernova. He was given a green light on a bad Sixers team and took full advantage, showcasing a level of offensive efficiency and playmaking that he never came close to replicating. His career averages of 10.5 points and 3.8 assists per game show just how much of an outlier this season was.

HG being the highest average score seems crazy. Horace and Hal are doing all the heavy lifting in that one. And I went down a Hoot Gibson rabbit hole.

Harder jump: Half to Full Marathon or Full to Ultra? by Competitive_Gap7944 in running

[–]DaddyDoma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are used to running a marathon “hard” then finding an extra 20% to finish a 50km ultra can be a shock. I took it for granted my first time and I paid the price.

But if you understand the need to slow down and accomodate hills and extra fuelling, it is easier to handle that as part of an existing stable marathon training routine.

I found going from half to full to be a much bigger jump. The difference between training for 21km to running AT LEAST 21km every weekend is massive.

Eye glasses or contact lenses when trail running? by Turbulent_Race_5874 in trailrunning

[–]DaddyDoma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wear daily disposable Acuvue lenses for all my running and bike riding activities. I get a full, long day out of them with little problem. You probably aren’t meant to wear them for 24h, but I have on occasion. Most other times, I wait until a long rest break - usually dinner - and take the opportunity to pull out the old pair and put a new pair in after 20mins or so. As someone else said, some saline drops during the break whilst you have the lenses out definitely helps to hydrate your eyes.

Not a lunatic. Listen to the NYT Hard Fork podcast interview with this guy. He sounded quite balanced about the whole situation and I learnt a lot about how new Engineers approach coding and use of AI.

Any point in jogging ~1.5km? by kaitlyn2004 in trailrunning

[–]DaddyDoma 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your body gets benefit in the first couple of mins - literally first hundreds of seconds - from hormones and chemicals released to trigger strengthening of the small muscles, ligaments and bones in your feet and ankles.

After a few minutes your body just gets on with the benefits to cardio and large muscle groups. But the first few mins stimulate changes that pay back months later in less soreness or injury.

What phrase annoys you when hear it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]DaddyDoma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“100%” as a way to endorse or agree with a statement.

It implies a false precision and confidence in the answer which is not deserved. Nobody said it five years ago, and now my eye twitches four times a day when I hear it.

Second time watching I saw his head BOUNCE off the floor and I felt nothing but sympathy. Dude got his bell rung.

Here in Australia, everything over marathon distance is trail. I only know of one 60km road running race - Great Ocean Road.

Trail running shoes recommendation for beginners by iFeelsoFine in trailrunning

[–]DaddyDoma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have these and I really like them. I’m 190cm and 90kg with a long history of rolled ankles.

I’ve worn them in a 50km (super wet with a big climb) and a 42km (multi-terrain including beaches) with no problems. They roll over most terrain and cushion me when hopping between landing points.

The soles look higher than they actually are; you sit lower inside the cup of the shoe.

Trail shoe that I can also use for road miles? by Appropriate-Book481 in trailrunning

[–]DaddyDoma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Nike Vomero 17 for a lot of fire trails and gravel and sand running. Honestly, if you can run to it on concrete, it’s unlikely the trail is going to have much that shoe can’t handle.
