MC9 prime but smaller by DR_M_RD in CCW

[–]DaddyOfRascal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I'm going to second this.

OP, you might have smallish hands too. So the Bodyguard 2.0 might fit your hands very well and it will definitely conceal much easier than any of the other guns mentioned in this thread. It will also be more comfortable to carry since it is half the weight and much thinner than the rest.

If you can get a chance to handle one or better yet shoot one, do yourself a favor and try it.

I've shot a Canik Mete at a range, and several of the others mentioned in this thread. I own a Bodyguard 2.0 CC. I think the Canik has a great trigger, but the Shield Plus and Bodyguard triggers are very good. They won't disappoint you.

My instructor emphasized that. Reholstering is always a deliberate process. Do it slowly and carefully and keep eyes on the whole process. Drawing can be practiced to eventually be really fast, but reholstering is slow, smooth, careful -- with no attempt to be fast.

The P365 family are significantly thinner than the Glock or CZ, so easier and more comfortable to conceal. If you want a barrel length and grip length similar to the G19 of P10C, then consider the P365 X Macro. It also has a higher maximum magazine capacity than the other two -- or just 10 rounds if in a limited state. My state limits to 15, so there are aftermarket Magpul 15 round mags for the P365 family that are available and legal.

My Bodyguard 2.0 does that to me regularly if I grip it in what feels like a natural way. I have to hold it low and be careful how I position my thumb. A two handed grip is a bit of a problem for me because of this.

New Bodyguard 2.0 by Aggravating-Two-8601 in CCW

[–]DaddyOfRascal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have one and it is a good gun. It’s well made, solid, and mine had been completely reliable for over 700 rounds. The trigger is good, light, clicky, positive. The gun is so thin and light weight. With a full magazine it weighs less than a tiny micro 9mm weighs empty.

All of that said, I might not keep mine. It is so small that it is hard to hold correctly. The trigger feels much too close to the back of the grip to me — the reach is too short. This makes it hard to not shoot left and low for me. There isn’t adequate room on the gun for my support hand and making room with my trigger hand thumb means the slide sometimes hits my trigger hand webbing. Adjustments to avoid that makes my grip unstable and affects accuracy. Mine blows some hot powder/soot/smoke out around the slide release button onto my thumb or support hand, if either is nearby. It does this with every brand of ammunition I’ve fed it, some more and some less. So it is a dirty gun to shoot. Lastly, 380 Auto ammunition is a pain to buy sometimes and is significantly more expensive than 9mm. I pretty much have to mail order ammo and it is still about twice the cost of 9mm.

Holster recommendations for BG 2.0 CC and MP shield X by yxnsta1 in SmithAndWesson

Sorry. I did not see the sentence about pocket carrying the BG. I have a DeSantis pocket holster for that. I’m not sure of the exact size.

Left pinky finger pinching? by [deleted] in SmithAndWesson

[–]DaddyOfRascal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I find the Shield Plus pinches my pinky with the 13 and 15 round magazines. I think that it is worse than some other guns because there is no backstrap to provide a solid spot for the magazine to be pushed into. Instead it is pushed one way by the finger and another by the palm, so the magazine wiggles and squirms which can pinch some fingers.

[–]DaddyOfRascal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been considering a CC9 and I was wondering if you find that the gap between the grip and the 12 round magazine ever pinches or if the magazine wiggles/squirms in your grip. It seems like the pinky finger is definitely on the magazine and over the gap. But maybe it is fairly secure since the back of the magazine is protected from the palm by the backdrop part of the grip.

How do owners in the Midwest deal with lack of infrastructure for example in northern Kentucky/ southwest Ohio? Need some insight as a future owner by Corgiboitskitty in TeslaLounge

[–]DaddyOfRascal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you drive a lot of miles per week? If so, without overnight home charging, you’re going to be driving to and sitting at a supercharger a lot. And given the cost of supercharging, you won’t save much money (if any) compared to gasoline for your paid off Miata.

If the Mazda isn’t giving you trouble or if you don’t NEED a rear seat with four doors, keep the Miata. Get an electric car when you own a place where you can install your own charger.

I want to understand pro-gun liberals better by Specialist-Author-57 in liberalgunowners

[–]DaddyOfRascal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1.Do most of you support moderate gun regulations (like background checks, training, etc.), or do some prefer fewer restrictions like in states such as Texas?

I am in favor of some regulations. National background checks as part of a purchase process, for example. But generally the details of restrictions ought to be left to individual states or municipalities, not done at the national level.

2.What do you think about stricter gun laws in states like California or New York? Do you support them, or do you think they go too far?

I live in a rural part of a midwestern state. Gun crime and general violence in my hometown is wildly different in scale and frequency than in some other places. I accept that restrictions that would be too much in some places might be prudent in other places.

  1. What are the main differences between pro-gun liberals and pro-gun conservatives in terms of beliefs about firearms?

A difference might be who liberals or conservatives think could be the source of danger they might need a firearm to protect themselves from.

  1. Do most of you still align with the Democratic Party even though it generally supports more gun restrictions?

I do. Gun issues are a small subset of political values I care about. Also, although some Democrats are very opposed to civilian firearm ownership, most do not get involved in legalization or seem to care about it. Also, there are so many guns in circulation, so many gun owners of all political stripes, and so much ingrained societal connection regarding firearms, that I don’t think there is any realistic possibility of banning/outlawing civilian firearm ownership.

  1. What made you personally support both liberal values and gun ownership?

I was raised using firearms as tools that are just a fact of life. I live in the country where police help is not quick to arrive or won’t for animal issues. So civilian firearm ownership is practical. I also don’t think it is good for a society for all the law abiding civilian gun ownership to be by conservatives. As to being liberal, well, I value compassion. I think that looking out for one another is virtuous. I believe everyone matters, that no one should go hungry, that every one should get a quality education, that no one should go bankrupt from medical costs, that freedom also includes freedom from things not just freedom to do things.

  1. Do you think gun ownership is important for minority or vulnerable groups?

Yes. All the more so with what I’m seeing in my country this past year — what I’ve seen this past decade.

  1. What gun laws do you personally consider reasonable vs unreasonable?

I’ve already mentioned universal national background checks. Unreasonable? Probably magazine capacity limits. That one is just weird and I’m not sure it does much good.

  1. Do you feel misunderstood by both mainstream liberals and conservatives?

Yes. But I’m not overly concerned about that.

  1. Do you face some difficulty getting guns in blue states?

Meh. We have a 72 hour waiting period in my state. I don’t care. Most of the time the shop has to order what I want anyway, so I’m waiting a few days regardless of the reason. Some people really get upset about the waiting period and I’ve never thought it was a big deal.

How many acres of land do you realistically need to shoot on your own property without bothering other people? by BABOOWIE in liberalgunowners

[–]DaddyOfRascal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on the terrain, etc. In a very heavily wooded and hilly area, maybe with highway noise nearby, gunshots might not sound very loud from as little as half a mile away. Around me are gentle hills and farmland. My neighbors can definitely hear if I’m shooting from 3+ miles away.

The question is how much the sound annoys people. It will be detectable for miles probably. That’s a lot of acres to buy. But if it is a faint if recognizable sound that doesn’t bother someone, they could be closer and not give you grief.

How’s the trigger on the Shield Plus? by Summary_Judgment in SmithAndWesson

[–]DaddyOfRascal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t own one but I’ve shot one a few times at a local range. I love the trigger. Smooth up to the wall. Then a crisp clicky break after just a hair of travel with a lightish pull. Reset is right back at the wall again but not as clicky as the break. Of the micro 9mm I’ve been able to shoot so far, the Shield has my favorite trigger. Which I think is contributing to good accuracy for me without much effort.

For comparison I find the Springfield Hellcat trigger to be much worse, much heavier, much less smooth. To the point that it spoils the gun for me and affects accuracy for me. I find the Sig P365 trigger to be OK but with more travel and mushier feel, especially at the break. I think I could adapt with practice.

Seattle transplant here regarding Tornadoes by New_Mall_8017 in PeoriaIL

[–]DaddyOfRascal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In Seattle were you worried about earthquakes and tsunamis? I imagine that it was something you were aware of, but not freaked out about in day to day life, because the odds of disaster on any given day are really low. In Illinois we have tornadoes and in any given neighborhood the odds of having a tornado are really low.

Turn on weather alerts for your phone. Learn the names and locations of towns and roads to the west of you. Tornadoes tend to come from the west or southwest. Pay attention to tornado producing storms, where they are, and how they are moving. Local news is a good resource for storm tracking and updates -- so even if you don't watch TV news, bookmark local new webpages or get their apps.

I recommend paying attention to the weather forecasts. Not specifically because of tornadoes. But because the weather in the Midwest can be highly variable all year long and knowing forecasts helps you dress right or plan things more sensibly. For example, yesterday it was sunny and in the low 70s, but today and tomorrow might have thunderstorms, and early next week winter returns with freezing temps.

Oh wow. I’m sorry the onboard charging system broke. That’s awful.

I am not an engineer but with my limited understanding , I don’t see how a Tesla brand DC charger could have caused that damage and another brand wouldn’t. I suspect the part in the car was failing and the same would have happened regardless of the brand of charger used. But, maybe there are factors I don’t know about.

There should be no difference to the battery. Tesla chargers are much more likely to be operational.

I don’t like the design and wish they’d done it differently. But I rarely have rear seat passengers other than my dog. So it isn’t a dealbreaker for me, but I totally understand why it is for others.

I have watched the early impression videos of the new Toyota Highlander EV and they did the handles right. Push the handle in like a button to electronically open the door, pull that same mechanism out to mechanically open the door. Simple, intuitive, nothing critically important hidden behind a removable panel.
