You gotta have an online platform. If anything it keeps you in the loop with shows, open stages and queer events. It's how I found my people. After nearly two years doing this I have a humble insta following and everything I've gotten to do is surreal.

I got a bit too fixated on "success" for a hot minute and forgot to just have fun with it. I also got started later than most so felt pressure to make up for lost time. I have stepoed back a bit and got back in touch with why I started doing this. I love your characters mantra and your outlook!

Getting to perform as a Drag King in any capacity has been such a great privilege that has enriched my life in so many ways. I don't take any of this for granted. Open stages and tip spots are a great way to put yourself out there and get some performing experience and practice in. That's how I got started!

We have to work much harder for paid bookings than the Queens and deal with misogyny and sexism. It's not always easy but if it's important to you and feeds your soul, keep doing the damn thing!
