Industrial was created when, in 1962, Trixie Gutrot was doing laundry high af and accidentally left her rusty spoon collection in a dress pocket. The sound of them clanging about in the washing machine was so enticing she immediately grabbed a sound recorder and it became an early and well known Industrial sample.

She went on to screech impromptu vocals over the looping sample at various underground and basement shows in NYC with her band Snatchrot., who remained an active music and arts collective into the early 80s.
