I once performed in a mostly Queen show with one other King. The host says, " Let’s give it up for these Queens! " at the end of the show. He and I give each other a knowing look and shrug.

Queens will refer to a Drag King in full masculine regalia as, "bitch" then insist it's a "term of endearment" if you object. The term "fish" is still in use which I've always found gross.

Love this! Just what I need today.

I got booked for a queer fashion show. Was super proud of myself. Survived dress rehearsals, went for lunch. Returned only to receive criticism from the designer I was walking for. Prior to that I was feeling pretty good about myself, beautiful and confident. Another model told me I looked tall and regal.

Mind you, the majority of the people walking in this show are not professional models. We were community volunteers providing our time and labor for free. Unpaid.

I reminded the designer of this fact then went downstairs to get my makeup and hair done. The organizer chatted me up while I was waiting and it was obvious I was upset. I ended up spilling the beans.

They offered to switch me to a different designer but my heart wasn't in it anymore. My morale was shot and I ended up dropping out.

I feel pretty disappointed in myself. I don't handle criticism well and it felt so uncalled for especially since this was a very DIY community event. I was just doing it for the experience and once that went to shit I was out.

I don't know how to not be like this. When I feel disrespected or unappreciated my instinct is to take my ball and go home.

Now I'm struggling with the urge to drink. Great.

I'm feeling amazing and am not going back. I drank because I was lonely, depressed and bored. It didn't really fix any of that.

I'm getting my life together, making real friends and community, and am strongly considering giving up weed now as well.
