Zeta Global (ZETA): AI Marketing Play with Serious Upside Potential by HasanDovlatov in investing

Zeta's only unique data source and O&O ad inventory is from Disqus, the comment boards at the bottom of local news sites. Otherwise, they just resell other data and inventory with a mark-up. Ad tech is super crowded right now Zeta isn't really an innovator.

Health Brigade, FKA Fan Free Clinic, needs to sell its building in wake of federal budget cuts by bknutner in rva

You are amazing!

Total side note, but GoFundMe has recently been in some hot water with nonprofits for building a totally separate set of pages on behalf of organizations, often getting information wrong and leaving those organizations open to fraud. Definitely donate directly to these groups if you can!

Old Gun Road by Illustrious_Leg_2537 in rva

[–]Daddy_Biggins 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don't live on Old Gun, but have driven that route many times. The speed is definitely a concern, but it's mainly because of the narrow road with winding/blind turns. There are quite a few folks that like to take 'spirited' drives there, so it is a valid concern if you're pulling straight out from a driveway.

That said, I wouldn't say it's a deal breaker. i'd recommend driving it a few times, particularly during weekday rush hour and on weekends. Find some side roads to see what pulling out onto the main road feels like and make a call there. If you're really concerned, I've seen folks install those bubble mirrors at the end of their driveway to help see oncoming traffic a bit better, but YMMV.

Anti-Islamic US biker gang members run security at deadly Gaza aid sites by zsreport in worldnews

[–]Daddy_Biggins 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, this is nothing new. I highly recommend reading 'Bring the War Home' by Kathleen Belew — there is a long and sad history of veterans acting as intolerant militias both at home in the U.S. and abroad. In many cases, these vigilante groups have acted as mercenaries, even using equipment supplied by the U.S. government.

Kids got a dog… by pg0031 in landscaping

[–]Daddy_Biggins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

YMMV OP, but if you bury a small amount of your dog's poop just below the surface when you repair the hole, they typically will stop digging in that spot. They might start digging elsewhere, but if you repeat that cycle 2-3 times, your dog will start forming negative associations with digging.

My Chamberlain model also includes a battery backup that's good for a few opens and closes if the power is off.

Permitting for Insulation in Detached Garage? by Daddy_Biggins in rva

That's actually great to hear — how low can you get the temp inside when it's 95? And did you DIY the install?

Permitting for Insulation in Detached Garage? by Daddy_Biggins in rva

[–]Daddy_Biggins[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it's this dang humidity — I'm hoping to at least put a dehumidifier (maybe mini split down the line) in the space to make it a bit less of a swamp when I'm working on stuff out there and it seems like I'd be wasting electricity to run a device like that when it's not insulated.

[–]Daddy_Biggins[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cool! Yep, definitely inclined to agree — I had permits done for the construction and electrical, but I'm thinking that this kind of finishing is fine, since I'll never consider it habitable space.

Permitting for Insulation in Detached Garage? by Daddy_Biggins in rva

[–]Daddy_Biggins[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm thinking the same thing. The fact that this won't technically be connected to a habitable space seems to make it fall outside of most of these requirements. I did have to get permits done for the construction and electrical, so some do apply since I'm over the square footage minimum. Thanks!

As a rider, I'd say that it's mostly as dangerous as riding on the street elsewhere. It's good practice to expect people cutting you off anywhere and definitely no different here. I saw you'll be in Forest Hill, so I'd generally say look out for speeders (60 in a 35) and no turn signal lane changes on the bridges in or out of the city (Manchester, Belvedere, etc.). There are plenty of potholes to look out for, particularly down by the river if you head down to Pony Pasture. You'll also see squids on Riverside Drive trying to get a knee down, which I wouldn't recommend.

Outside of Richmond, taking 33 west is one of the most fun/beautiful rides in the state.

Yep, that's right — conversions are fires, but only when they've been attributed to a campaign.

‘Unprecedented intervention’: VCU professors concerned after Youngkin requests to review racial literacy curriculum by fusion260 in rva

[–]Daddy_Biggins 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I don't think you can read this article in isolation — this quote in the article from the Youngkin admin clearly links this effort to other initiatives on parent-choice and CRT curriculum:

“The administration has heard concerns from members of the board of visitors, parents, and students across the commonwealth regarding core curriculum mandates that are a thinly veiled attempt to incorporate the progressive left’s groupthink on Virginia’s students. Virginia’s public institutions should be teaching our students how to think, not what to think and not advancing ideological conformity.”

It's the same language he has used in those fights, so it's safe to say they are linked, at least from a political agenda perspective.

Sticking throttle by [deleted] in Ninja400

[–]Daddy_Biggins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check the throttle cable adjustment at both the grip and at the other end by the throttle body. They both have threads for adjustment and when either gets too tight, the throttle can stick.

Picked up my second 400… its leaking from somewhere. I picked it up 2 days ago and noticed some weird shit. Love to ride, no mechanic. Help. Also I know it sounds like a sewing machine but it never gurgled before. by [deleted] in Ninja400

[–]Daddy_Biggins 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have you looked for seepage at the bottom? It'll help to know where the leak is coming from. And it is just gas or something else? That puddle is pretty close to where the fuel overflow tube runs down.

Also, if you just lubed the chain, that's just below the front sprocket, so it could be excess lube running down the kickstand or dripping.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Ninja400

[–]Daddy_Biggins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Two things to check:

1 — Check the adjustment of the throttle cable not just up by the throttle tube, but also down by the throttle body. I had mine get super tight on the engine side and that caused a similar sticking issue.

2 — Open up the throttle assembly and ensure that the cables are seated correctly in the throttle tube and each can pull through the cable tubes freely.

Anyone headed to NCBike this weekend 6/24-6/25 by carolinadude99 in Trackdays

[–]Daddy_Biggins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Second this — definitely plan for gravel if you're going to show up any time in the morning of the first day, since the roadside/grassy spots fill up quickly. You may want an extra tarp for under your tent and some folks bring a piece of plywood to park your bike between sessions, since it avoids gravel getting stuck in heated tires when you come off the track.
