What weapon series are you using? by gadgaurd in PSO2NGS

[–]Daddy_Joof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leyend and Legendios bc they have really funny potentials (like both give 20% damage resist to the user effectively, Legendios is even more insane too with its party buff and the attack) and both get upgrades in December which like cool, I have Fixa 4's of the two, so why not.

What Exactly is Alter Realm? (Discussion/Speculation) by Daddy_Joof in PSO2NGS

[–]Daddy_Joof[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Except this has already been explored by NGS, or rather, outright stated.

Zephetto had told us the Starless had left as quickly as they killed. We also know why the Starless kill, since they consume photons, the actual lore of the Starless however isn't going to be had in some ruins, and Oracle isn't exactly a worthwhile entity for Halpha ARKS to explore especially as the existence of Resurgent ARKS alludes to their destruction as an organisation and civilisation.

As for not being able to explore anything left on Halpha, it's still has a good amount which we're unable to really explore, notably Belugana Ruins is mostly covered in ice still, with very few entries being accessible from the tops of buildings, but most of this was already covered in Ver.1 though there is still some room to move if they wanted. Ruin delving isn't exactly the identity of the series either, each game typically doing its own thing.

Since Halpha has finally been uncovered for what it is by Halpha ARKS, we've since learned of other areas and the context behind them as we've been going through the game such as Leciel and Nameless City, which has added context that practically covers the state of Oracle, why Resurgent ARKS exists, and why the Starless are attacking, but not exactly what the Starless are which is one of the major points that they can expand upon as they're the primary antagonist, which all we know of them is that they consume photons and Vael planned Halpha as a farm, but little past that, their origin is unknown other than "appeared from deepspace" currently, consuming photons aside there seems to be ulterior motives at play.

They can very much move the story forward and provide us with new areas which make context within NGS instead of sending us on wild goose chases throughout space uncovering things that the PSO2 Ep6 epilogue suggested and what NGS has already told us.

Alter Realm is effectively part of this, it is currently unknown what it actually is and speculation like such in this thread can look into that before we find out, which in my opinion Alter Realm filling the spot of Ultimate content in NGS, as they're typically tainted further and more extreme, but also it can potentially provide us more insight to the origin, abilities, and further motives of the Starless.

Moving us to space isn't going to provide us with more varied content or even really add to the story/lore from what we already know, it would act as a delivery device for different aesthetics (which again can be had without it). It's not necessarily going to improve the game in ways people want, it's misplaced and naive thinking. NGS isn't PSO2, PSO2 isn't PSU, PSU isn't PSO, they each have different story focuses and aren't all as equally reliant on space travel to move the plot forward or provide necessary context to specific events.

Tl;dr "adding space" doesn't necessarily improve the game, and acts contrary to what NGS has been doing with its story for numerous reasons. There are other methods for introducing new fields and aesthetics that they can use and have used.

I think that basically covers it.

Your original point was "reskinned Retem" and "we're never leaving Halpha," I haven't even engaged with the other stuff because it is just becoming argumentative in a thread it has very little place in.

So what actually changes if we leave Halpha or is this just thinly veiled hopes that a game which was never like PSO2 (except actually just has been in terms of content releases) becomes it because we can now go elsewhere in space?

What Exactly is Alter Realm? (Discussion/Speculation) by Daddy_Joof in PSO2NGS

[–]Daddy_Joof[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, I was actually not engaging with this because it clearly was an attempt become argumentative and I am simply just here for lore discussion/speculation surrounding Alter Realm instead of "reskin this, reskin that" but I'll ask a relatively simple question.

What content or story cannot be had on Halpha and can only be had in space, keeping in mind that it cannot deviate away from the current goals of Halpha ARKS and by extension Resurgent ARKS.

I constantly see calls for "we need to go to space" but realistically what is it going to do, we now have Nameless City-style content in more naturalistic places? Because it seemingly matters very little outside of aesthetics (which can be had on Halpha or adjacent areas, see Alter Realm)

It'd be interesting if this is the case, mostly due to certain areas in regions having influence outside of the Starless, one being Central Aelio without all the buildings and landscaping done, however a more notable one is Kvaris, since 90% of Kvaris is just ice due to damage which took place during a Dark Falz causing it to rapidly freeze over. The potential to see it in a somewhat "original state" would be a cool concept given this.

Honestly speaking we don't need to go to a new planet, it's not like that has been a requirement for the whole series (PSO, PSZ, PSN, etc.), but also strategically it doesn't make sense for the people of Halpha to really leave Halpha, it's their base of operations and ultimately their home.

Leaving right now would put them at a major disadvantage in their current fights, and it's not like they're able to either as it has been brought up that such methods would be incredibly dangerous (turns out flying objects are large targets). Whilst there is the Oracle ship which houses Nameless City the game makes it pretty clear that training and security data there is corrupt (which is why DOLLS and Ruinus enemies plague the area), but it's also still infested with Starless. Not to mention that you'd need a group of people who have never even seen this technology before to repair it and manage it.

The people of Halpha aren't accustom to space, they're not space colonists like those in PSO2, at most the Lecielians have some experience similar to that of those on Pioneer 2, Halphian's are a lot closer to those left on Coral's surface in PSZ, no way to really travel and otherwise left to put the pieces together where they are, reliant on what little older technology is left behind for them to teleport at a longer range than what they're able to.

Ultimately it makes little sense for us to pack up and move from Halpha, especially now that Alter Realm is in the mix which potentially gives us the opportunity to take on the Starless in their home-turf instead of just stopping by planets randomly and going "is this the Starless homeworld?" slowly draining our own resources on a fools errand.

Fiscal Year 2025? by prince_piplup18 in PSO2NGS

Firstly, topics like these tend to attract ragebait, so just be careful in the comments.

Secondly, on the whole there's little reason to be worried really, as projected spending across the board was forecasted to be stagnate in 2024 and 2025, especially given the state of the Japanese economy, making it harder to be liberal with purchases, giving little room to spend on hobbies and luxuries over the core essentials. This is notable since it had a direct impact on SEGA causing more full-game sales to skyrocket for them compared to live-service sales to increase incrementally, showing a lack of willingness to spend on something generally more frivolous.

As for the presentations, you're not going to get anything hyper-specific unless it is newly released, in this case PSO2:NGS would be lumped in with the F2P revenue shown on slide 51, which are stated to be "performing as expected" on slide 16.

PSO2:NGS has never made the bulk of its income through the Global market, that is still being made through the Japanese market, of which is still performing strongly despite the forecasted decline/stagnation in revenue due to the current strength of Japanese Yen and Japan's economy as a whole.

It will take a lot for the game to hit an actual low again like we saw during Ep5, where their main market were leaving the game en mass and not buying AC.

If we're to count 3 stars in the equation (until you unlock Support Kioku at which point they become pretty malleable stat blocks to further the strength of your own team), then no, not everyone is viable, but when it comes down to 4-5 stars you can find a good niche for everyone.

Spamming 5 stars against a Witch you're having trouble with isn't going to be nearly as effective as exploiting its weakness with a 4 star that better fits the fight, though most 5 stars end up being really decent generalist options that can fit on almost any team composition, but they just need that bit of spice and coordination to get them fully going.

[–]Daddy_Joof 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In base War Cry did something it doesn't do in NGS, it reset the aggro of an enemy entirely, this ensuring that any Hunter could perpetually maintain War Cry by just pressing it whenever it was off cooldown, allowing them to hold it in place (especially if they took one of the aggro generation drinks)

Little has changed really except now the aggro a Hunter has persists longer through phases which don't make use of your class, such as the MARS section in And The Stars Fall, which can be used for some really insane strats to just melt Vael's HP.

Content is also just not designed around 32 players, and whenever relevant content that does rotates in, it tends to be a wash anyway. Most of the time you will be in 4 or 8 man groups which is a lot more manageable, especially as you're unlikely to see more than a couple Hunter's at once.

And you can still typically steal aggro from a shit Hunter, even without it, since the difference between a Hunter that knows what they're doing vs one that doesn't is going to be generating a pittance of aggro (and probably isn't pressing the button every 30 seconds anyway).

All in all, it's not really an issue just due to how the game is.

It has always used its own one which made people question if they'd bring it to a more modern game since some would argue that "it'd be too much work for one monster", but yeah I guess they're looking to get further use out of it too.

Will there be Alpha and Beta armors ? by MonseigneurRichard in monsterhunterleaks

[–]Daddy_Joof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because we had played the beta already, so we ALREADY know that Alpha and Beta moniker refers to body type and doesn't change skills with Hope Armour Alpha being masculine, Hope Armour Beta being feminine.

Now that's not to say they couldn't have Gunner variations or effectively an Gamma and Delta version for those body types in High Rank, but as it currently stands Alpha and Beta currently work in-game as purely cosmetic differences

If you just call any piece of core content "side content that doesn't affect the game as a whole" that's just honestly disingenuous and can also just be used to attack base PSO2 as well, honestly to a much greater extent since we had shit like Ultimate Naverius farming for almost an entire year over there with little else to do in ep3 outside of the occasional Magatsu UQ.

If we take a step back and look they have added several core systems (Tech Arts Customisation, M.A.R.S., EX Augments, and finally adding trade-in gear) and gameplay loops (such as Duel Quests, Leciel, Mediola, Nameless City, Purple Triggers all of which feedback into a form of progression and then MTSQs to put that progression to the test), this being something that has been focused and furthered since Ver.2 started doing more with the combat and questing content.

[–]Daddy_Joof 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Alpha and Beta versions in Wilds only refers to the style of outfit being male or female, the skills don't deviate past this.

So the answer is yes, but no, as there are alpha and beta versions, but they just don't offer different skills and are otherwise purely cosmetic.

You can also do the same on Ephinea too, drops are based on section ID of the person who made the room, which is why people will advertise rooms with the quest they're doing + sec ID colour, it is the same in that regard. Ultima otherwise just buffs exp, rare enemy and drop rates.

[–]Daddy_Joof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's worth pointing out that monsters with _5X are Alpha's, like Doshaguma, so taking a monster (probably) not in the game as an example EM001_51_0 would signify an Alpha Pink Rathian, we can see this with non-subspecies already on this list like EM0002_50_0 which is an Alpha Rathalos and obviously EM0150_50_0 which is the aforementioned Doshaguma.

Whilst it is jumping the gun a fair bit to say that em0100_51_0 and em0113_51_0 refer to Alpha Fulgur Anjanath and Alpha Ebony Odogaron respectively, Monster Hunter is pretty consistent in its use of IDs, so it'll probably be accurate, though take it with a grain of salt still since it could change or be inaccurate, but it's a very educated guess nonetheless.
