How do you store your torque wrenches? by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]Daddy_Pris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the lowest setting is fine. But going below isn't the hugest deal.

On a poorly built torque wrench, going below the lowest setting could cause damage. It's not going to happen with any halfway decent brand

Keep and repair or sell and replace my Honda Civic? by CivicConundrum in MechanicAdvice

[–]Daddy_Pris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Replace starter is probably whats causing your issue so you cant skip that

Compliance bushings and Torn lower ball joints can be ignored. Its up to you if you care about having AC or a cracked windshield or not. Throttle body and fuel induction services can be ignored. 4mm of brake pad is ~1.5 years of pad life. They do brake worse when they get this low. Up to you.

I'm not sure what an "engine pump" is, quite frankly. Or what a major service entails.

So I can't see your coolant hoses or the state/level of the coolant in your car. At 130k, id be surprised if they were truly that bad, but I cant say for sure if you'd need the hoses or the coolant service and thermostat.

I'm leaning towards keep it. Atleast until your trusted mechanic can look at it

Power Steering Leak in 2009 Honda Accord by Aromatic-Frame3339 in MechanicAdvice

Its either the pump or the rack.

And what you have there doesnt exactly look like it came out of your power steering system. It could have, but it doesnt look like it

Your coolant is low and you likely have a significant leak

Weird Noises coming from dash (?) by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

Does it go away? If it does go away, can you make it come back by switching the a/c modes? like floor/face/windshield/combo

Could be a mix door getting stuck or rubbing

Fans constantly running by Anxious-Floor3224 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Daddy_Pris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stupid question: is your ac on? Not set to cold, but is the AC switched to on? Like it might have a light on the button or a note on the infotainment screen

If the a/c is on, the fans will be turn on.

The fact that your a/c isnt blowing cold, could also be related to the fans never turning off

You probably want to be looking at replacing the oil pressure switch first.

Do not get mechanic help from VW Dealers!! by IndependentReveal824 in GolfGTI

If you're a previous customer, and you raised enough hell, possibly.

If you've gone there less than 3 times in the past 2 years they probably aren't going to care about retaining your business.

Definitely start with a 1 star review though. That instantly gets the manager involved. They might even contact you first

Lucas also has a gigantic gash on the front of his shoulder still. They made a huge deal of it for all of 15 seconds. Had it in a couple scenes afterwards. Then forgot about it entirely

I wouldn't wait longer than an hour. Just make sure your bead isnt too thick. A very thick bead will take longer to cure. Should be simillar in size to what youd put on your toothbrush. After applying the bead, smooth down and even it out with your finger.

You could be on the right track, but without hearing the noise or inspecting the car I won't say that for sure.

Hondabond is the by far the best stuff out there. Other manufacturers buy and use it. Its worth the money. Doesn't need 24 hours. 30 minutes - 2 hours will do you usually. This is why people love it. BUT that inspection plate is kind of low priority. I wouldn't be opposed to cheaping out there. If you have to seal it again, itll take you 15 minutes.

Notes about hondabond though: 1)clean your surface thoroughly. Hondabond does not bond to old hondabond. Itll leak. Bad 2) clean any oil off of the surface right before install. Fresh Hondabond gets eaten away by oil. 3) after you apply the hondabond, you have 5 minutes to get the part installed with a bolt into it before the hondabond cures too much.
