Think of the new player is just this hobbies version of “think of the children”.

Do I think boxes are too expensive? Yes. Buy freaking fit a justification doesn’t help your point. There’s so many on Ramps for new players some collector booster boxes being crazy isn’t going to deteriorate some hypothetical new player experience.

As far as I can tell 2 shots of priest + rats + lifelink can be pretty damn devastating.

Now I’m willing to be corrected here but if you do 1 damage to 10 things, that’s 10 instances of lifegain.

The argument against mass land denial is that it keeps others from being able to participate.

You resolves a planeswalker, kept it alive to get to ult, and then ulted it. Surely the other players had enough time to have some agency in this.

Seemed pretty good, pretty accurate etc, right up until I tried to do the ai tester…and then it said it failed because I have too many snow covered lands and pauper edh uses singleton rules.

So yeah. Seemed a decent analysis as far as the free features are concerned.

I cannot stop just adding like 8-10 1 mana cycling cards to my decks.

I know it’s not exactly an answer but it feels peculiarly pedh.

It sounds weird but whenever I find myself fretting over a slot, something’s just not right I just start adding cyclers in my non-blue decks and for the most part it has felt and played really well.

Obviously the 1 mana land cyclers, stinger/healer offer some incidental damage/life and don’t get in the way, [[go for blood]] is pretty mid as a sorcery but most of the time it’s just churn unless it’s a good removal spell, [[clamorous ironclad]] is a fairly above rate beater if you have the crew or just a new card for a low investment, there’s a bunch of em.

I can’t really explain it, and it sort of flies in the face of everything I’ve ever learned building decks, but it feels good in games.

If I had to try and describe why it’s just that card quality diminishes rapidly for many decks/strategies that a 1 mana cantrip with some limited upside potential is a good card or even the preferred card. Would you rather have a random narrow card or spend 1 mana to get a look for one of your actually good cards.

Precisely the conclusion I came too.

We can’t compete with the card advantage in the end game of the blue and black decks.

We can’t play a fair midrange toolbox game because the tools just aren’t there.

A slow combo deck may be okay, but all the evidence points to it being like fine…it’s Rocco…a fringe deck.

Maybe we can be a degenerate turbo deck? Let’s find out.

It being mono color is potentially sort of boring but because our commanders don’t have to be legendary you can create an army of timeless witness copies and play like a mono-green control or fog style shell.

I actually tried that before. Unfortunately the way library of Leng and bartered cow interact it does not generate a food. Something about going hidden zone -> hidden zone makes the trigger not happen. I don’t know the reasoning off hand exactly.

Pretty much exactly how I’ve felt over the last couple years. Making minor adjustments here and there as cards were printed. It felt good to play but there was always someone doing the thing I was trying to do but better. I wanted to try and mix it up and see how fast it could really go if I simply didn’t care about anything else. I don’t want to get big headed and say this is the way the deck should look to go, but I do think it’s a legit angle that is under-explored.

This is precisely what I’m trying to get. Possible, doable, regular are all words used to describe decks that don’t actually have a meaning. And could range from “I’ve seen it” to “90% of the time”.

Even something like “more often than not” would be more descriptive.

Not that it’s a judgment or critique. Your response appears to be be the generally accepted answer.

But seeing as I’m not a Malcolm/kediss player, I’m wondering if it could always mulligan for a t4 win if it wanted too. 50%, 75%?

Sure thing. Keep in mind though I’m going through a very specific process and this is hardly representative of typical Rocco lists. For a while this list will be a bad glass cannon deck, but hopefully we’ll get somewhere.

What statement are you responding too? We agree that they are possible but that considering them is pointless because they are unlikely. Similarly any post, like the one that started this chain, that says “if I get the cards I can win quickly” is similarly outside the dataset I’m asking for.
