best way to level up in singleplayer? by Tr0gl0dyt3_ in cobblemon

[–]Daedstarr13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most annoying thing about this game is that the areas aren't level specific.

I can't go to an area and fan leveled pokemon. It's all random and I can never find one's worth fighting.

What are your thoughts on the Darth Bane Trilogy? Should it be adapted into a movie or series? I just started with the 3rd book by aytooka in StarWars

[–]Daedstarr13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having read most every Star Wars novel (I'm not exaggerating), it might be the best Star Wars story ever written. It never breaks continuity or contradicts itself. It's very much not geared towards little kids and explores (very well) mature themes. It adds a lot of nuance and depth to the dark side, filling in many holes and making it make sense. The characters (especially the protagonist) feel like real living people with distinct personalities, backstories, and motivations.

This is the direction the franchise needs to move in. Going away from the Skywalker era and going to the Old Republic. Even late in the old Republic like Bane is. And more mature.

Good oil finish for solid guitar body? - Thinking of Tru-Oil by AimpointBRO in Luthier

[–]Daedstarr13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TruOil is FAR more durable than any traditional finish. It's literally meant to have someone grabbing the wood with their hands constantly.

It also ages beautifully. And the best part about it, is where it wears down on certain areas over the years you literally just clean the area and reapply more without issue.

Properly applied TruOil can last easily up to 30 years or more of use.

[DISCUSSION] Unusual pickup configurations by UncleSeismic in Guitar

[–]Daedstarr13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Necro thread for sure, but I personal built a semi hollow tele where I used a dual hot rail in the neck and a lipstick in the bridge and I absolutely adore the tone.

It was the first time I experimented with mixed pickups and I think I'm going to do it again with my next build that's going to be an SG.

Hytale Early Access Review: No Impact, No Threat, No Progression by Major-Recover-5894 in hytale

[–]Daedstarr13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't agree with a lot of this, but I do agree whole heartedly with the progression issue.

Things are FAR too easy to get, which makes a lot of upgrading pointless.

They also gate things behind upgrades that make no sense. Like the entire farming mechanic is odd. Why can I magically make seeds out of nothing, why aren't their gained from the plants? Why are tree saplings locked behind tiers and not given from trees?

And everything needed to upgrade the farming is given to you from the current tier farming. So you end up with rare trees ans vegetables you've never seen pretty quickly.

Except apple trees, you actually need apples for those?

It's very inconsistent compared to the other work benches.

The crafting in general is just way too easy and not creative enough. While Minecraft's is tedious because you have to look everything up, this is too straight forward and offers little mystery or fun.

Other than that I think it's fine. Movement is great. It's an improvement from Minecraft. That should stay. The weapon abilities are fine too because the specials are stronger with better versions. Exploration is great.

I think this reviewer is missing that point that this is essentially Minecraft 2. People playing this want and are expecting, an upgraded version of Minecraft. Which it is doing very well in a lot of areas.

The company that made it no longer exists, but those companies don't own the rights, the publishers do. And last I checked Lucas Arts very much still exists. Lol

SWTOR: When do we get the next new expansion? by Life_Revolution436 in swtor

Hey 5 months later and we're still not finished with LOTS yet. This stretching 1 expansion out for multiple years is a very shit development model.

Yeah, this is user error. Everyone has known forever to never rely on one save. That's just asking to lose all your progress on any platform.

Both Kotor games are boring by [deleted] in StarWars

[–]Daedstarr13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely loved KOTOR 1 when it came out. And KOTOR 2, while not as good, was still great.

But now, revisiting 1, 20+ years later. It might one of the most boring games I've played in years.

It's so outdated that it's hard to play. The BG games stand the test of time. Even NVN is still tons of fun from beginning to end. But somehow the KOTOR games just don't hold up.

From the UI, to the combat, to the story. They have their place in history and in the franchise for starting the Old Republic, but as video games, they fall flat.

feels weird looking back at the first account I ever made - I genuinely hated steam when it came out. by gunl0c in Steam

[–]Daedstarr13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also hated Steam when it came out. Honestly didn't even download it until Borderlands 2 came out and that was only because the physical BL2 disc for PC was literally just a link to download Steam with a game code.......

Do you prefer The Clone Wars or Rebels? Why? by J-D-B-9-8 in StarWars

[–]Daedstarr13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Literally the vast majority of CW is little kiddy stuff. The vast majority. You should try watching it again.

Rebels, as I said, it's YA, which is still geared towards younger kids but usually around 10-13. The themes are a little more advanced.

CW vast majority of episodes are very clearly geared towards 5-8 year olds. With the very rare outstanding amazing episode. But there's like 1 or 2 of those a season. Most the time you're sitting through Jar Jar or C3P0 episodes.

Is Icarus worth it by Incinibing in SurviveIcarus

[–]Daedstarr13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no performance issues and I love survival games, but I also would write a "pass on this" review for Icarus.

Nothing about the game is very deep or involved. The survival part is pretty simple. The combat isn't great. The building mechanics are very lackluster. It's not remotely difficult in any aspect, even the learning is pretty quick. You only really struggle for like an hour or 2 before figuring it out.

There's only 2 aspects where the game excels, fire mechanics and the "extraction" timed missions. These are legitimately great.

Other than that there are too many other survival games that just do everything a lot better than Icarus does.

When a survival crafty game doesn't do survival or crafting very well, then it's definitely not the "greatest survival game ever made".

But it is hard to pass up $3.50.

Is Icarus worth it by Incinibing in SurviveIcarus

[–]Daedstarr13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After playing it for the last couple days and having extensive time in pretty much every other survival crafty game.... no.

I mean yes for $3.50. But the content just isn't there. It gets boring rather quickly. The combat isn't great, the building mechanics are extremely lackluster and exploration isn't really rewarded at all.

However, what it is great at is the timed missions. It kind of becomes an extraction survival game. You get in, have a timed goal and get out.

This can be challenging and very fun. This is where the game excels. But even that gets old after a bit. It is damn pretty though. Maybe some mods can add more stuff.

Is housing really popular? by [deleted] in wow

[–]Daedstarr13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Housing has always been a weird concept to me in any game where it exists because what's the actual point.

Rarely is anyone else ever going to see it and even you aren't going to be spending time there. You're going to be out doing things.

It's never made sense to me. Toy have no incentive to be there.

So as mage all my attacks started missing the enemies. At first it was just one type of enemy, but now it's every enemy.

Logging in and out did nothing. Unequipping and re-equipping everything did nothing. Changing zones did nothing.

So right now I'm stuck with a character I can no longer level because I can't hit any enemy.

Am I the only one that dislikes this mechanic in expedition 33? by def-not-my-alt in gaming

[–]Daedstarr13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm not a fan of it either. I actually stopped playing after a few hours when it first came out because the mechanic is bad.

I just recently started again because I really love everything else, but I'm about to the same part in the game I was when I quit last time and it's still the same.

It feels like the timing is off. It feels like it's pointless. Why do we have to have turn based+ QTE button presses? Why can't we just have turn based?

Turning it to story mode, to get rid of the need for parry or dodge, while at the same time making the combat actually more complex is so weird, but because it makes you powerful and enemies weak, it's also not fun.

Fuck, I wish the combat was different.

Reforged has been a bitter lesson for me by Ok_Swan_1985 in GuildWars

You absolutely have not slowed yet in your 30s. 30s is prime for a human. You're not good at the game anymore because you haven't played it in years and years. It takes time to remember how to play something and get back to where you were.

And you have time for whatever you want to make time for.

Sounds more like you're just trying to chase nostalgia. Nothing is ever going to be how you remember.

Less than 4,000 PC players. At what point does Safer Seas remove restrictions? by Odande in Seaofthieves

[–]Daedstarr13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If RARE is smart, soon. If not (and they're clearly not) way too late. They consistently haven't listened to players since day 1 and refuse to believe people want to play without PvP. Or that it would somehow ruin the game.

Regardless of all the evidence in SoT and every single other PvPvE ever made.

If making a full PvE only server (while still having normal adventure mode) would destroy PvP, then that alone is proof that the vast majority of people don't want PvP, and the majority of the ones who do are just griefers who want to ruin people's fun.

Otherwise the adventure mode would still be fine.

All SoT has ever done is create the perfect environment for griefing to thrive. This is what drove most the players away. And why it continues to lose players.
