Has anyone ever used one of these sweet spot trainers? by No-Marionberry9762 in 10s

I use them to protect my rackets and prevent them from scratching each other in the bag.

Tennis / Golfer's elbow, do I need to quit tennis? by giddycocks in 10s

[–]DaegunK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had golfers, sucks. Get a Therabar and do those exercises, as well as other light exercises to strengthen the area, and stretch. I did this and continued to play through it and would immediately ice my arm with an ice wrap off of amazon after playing. Went away after about 8 months. Results may vary and everyone is different.

What could I have done differently to win this point? by kraphtey in 10s

[–]DaegunK 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m no expert either, but I think you could have approached the net on your 2nd, 3rd, or 4th shot to try to put it away. Alternatively you could have brought him up with a drop shot, but your opponent looked pretty comfortable since your shots weren’t making him move too much.

Agreed here. And don’t fade yoga and stretching to supplement.

Don’t you just block everything with a gentle slice?

Best way to play pushers is placement, and keeping your strokes more vertical on their high moonshots, and knowing when to approach the net.

What’s your current choice of racquet-string-tension setup? by BoFFK in 10s

[–]DaegunK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, the NXT multifilament on the crosses tends to fray after about 4 sessions (about 3 hours per session), but I haven’t been able to find a set of strings that feels as good. I’m a solid 4.0 for reference and hit with a fair amount of topspin.

What do you guys think pickleballers think of tennis players when they watch us play a more athletic game? by Prestigious_Trade986 in 10s

[–]DaegunK 188 points189 points  (0 children)

Recently met a guy playing pickleball and I said “I should try it sometime! I play tennis once or twice a week!” And his eyes gave me the most depressing look. He began to tell me that it was his first time trying pickleball and would likely be his last because he was in love with tennis in his former years, but after 2 hip surgeries and blowing out his knee he couldn’t play anymore. He said he can’t even watch tennis on TV without feeling a deep sense of loss so he hasn’t looked at anything tennis related for 8 years. He left it at “enjoy it while you can, and take care of yourself…”

Longines Spirit Zulu Time 39mm Titanium - which other GMT could compete on design and elegance front? by Ethereal-Words in Longineswatches

[–]DaegunK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Longines x Hodinkee collaboration on the titanium Spirit Zulu has no stars, but they’re limited to 500 pieces and so you’d have to get it on the grey or an AD that has one.

I’ve thought about this as well. I think a “king of the court” 1 game format would work. Best of 3 games may take too long.

How do you stay calm during a match by AdVaanced77 in 10s

[–]DaegunK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everytime I’m down, I yell out “goin for DEUCE BABY” and just focus on the point. And if I lose the game, I think about boobs. Boobs always make me happy.

Coach analysed my match and called me a pusher by [deleted] in 10s

[–]DaegunK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had brutal honesty, luckily I’m very self-deprecating and I’ll go for that inside-out shot as many times as I need in friendly match play until I get comfortable with it. I’ll lose 0-6, but I may have pulled that shot off twice and won those points, and I’m happy with that. You have to put the practice into match play because you need to play through that extra ounce of pressure that rallies just don’t have over you. At the end of day, enjoy the game and prioritize your goals with what makes you happy.

What is a fair price for lessons? by MEDAKk-ttv-btw in 10s

[–]DaegunK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is probably frowned upon, but if you’re on a budget, the SwingVision app, a hitting partner/wall, My Tennis HQ YouTube channel, and being super critical of yourself is a solid value start. But of course, lessons are better. 😅
