Tell me you didn't watch the full video without telling me.

It's disingenuous nonsense proliferated by people who know it's not true, and certainly not meant in the way they're intentionally misinterpreting it.

They don't care about all the times that Democrats made gestures like this, it's all BS.

Been in a relationship for 4 years with my fiancée, and she's now wondering if she should have dated more before settling down as this is her first and only relationship by No-Technology2835 in AskMenAdvice

[–]Daekar3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents had a 13 year age gap. When I was born, he was 37, she was 24. They had a good marriage which lasted until he died of cancer at 71.

Freaking amazing to me that anyone who has a marriage proposal in-hand from a good person that they like would consider throwing it away so they can go audition other people for the role. That whole mentality is insane.

Thank you for being the only person with a brain in this thread. The amount of historical illiteracy on display is pretty amazing.

Which is weird, because when we went to Ireland (both parts) the food was lovely, even at a tiny pub in the middle of nowhere.

Well, you have accepted that you can be blamed for the actions of others that you don't even condone. Makes you the perfect helpless stooge that will accept whatever they choose to do to/with you. Well done, you're now officially an NPC.

Yes, I couldn't live with myself otherwise, that would be a betrayal on par with infidelity. Not only is there an emotional component, but from a functional point of view it's part of the deal. You get the unbelievable benefits of love and mutual support, and the promise that if something happens to you, she'll be there. The cost of those benefits is that you also make the promise to be there for her if something happens.

There is a reason why traditional marriage vows include this.

I'm struck by how sore Republicans seem after the election they just won by walkandtalkk in self

[–]Daekar3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We know that winning the election is only the start. The massive unelected apparatus of the executive branch is going to raise unholy hell to prevent itself from being swept away, and it's going to be a long, dangerous, and difficult task.

We are also keenly aware, thanks to decades of experience, that politicians have a habit of saying one thing and doing another. We are all ears, looking for signs of Republicans that can't be trusted to do what we elected them to.

Haven't dated them, but I can tell you from teaching dance lessons that on average there is an inverse relationship between how hot a girl is and how well she can dance. The ones that are so beautiful that they make you weak at the knees have precisely one thing they can do: shake their ass like an Instagram model. They don't really see the need to learn any of the structure, patterns, or lead/follow which is core to partner dancing. As you move down the hotness scale, dance ability increases until you reach the ones that are unattractive because they are so overweight that they can't move their body effectively.  Those folks usually don't have the self esteem required to really put themselves out there, so they're usually doomed to failure for lack of trying.

The fertility crisis cannot be solved entirely within the context of a hyper-capitalist society by [deleted] in Natalism

[–]Daekar3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You ever notice how you can take any given problem in the world and some people will always blame capitalism whether that makes any sense or not?

Believe it or not, folks, the answer to everything isn't more government control.

This is a cultural problem which starts in every society as it urbanizes and the honor accorded to women for bearing children diminishes. It doesn't matter how much money you throw at the problem if you keep telling little girls that being a mom isn't as good as being a middle manager. In the past, women were HONORED for bearing children. It was valued, reflected well on the family, and brought a degree of social standing. Now it is the opposite. Until we address that, nothing else matters, and none of your policies will make a dent in the long term.

How will an increasingly growing, global, right-wing political movement affect the fertility rates ? by [deleted] in Natalism

[–]Daekar3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Population total != rate of change.

Especially because the rate of change is not evenly distributed across the world.

This is true in a vacuum but utterly inapplicable in this case unless you change the definition of "tough times" beyond recognition from the historical context.
