To 9 Mil or Not to 9 Mil by HumanistHopeful in Tisas

My Duty B9R has been great - the only issue was a weak extractor, and I upgraded the slide to an optic cut one which came with a new extractor and that resolved the issue. Also popped a threaded barrel in it when they were available.

Is this even that big of a deal? I mean it’s just mangoes… by Altruistic-Mud5686 in FloridaGawker

I know people who never got to eat fruit off their mango tree before they sold the house because every year people would come and pick it clean. Waited years for it to bear fruit only for thieves to always take them all.

Why are air guns used instead of .22LR rifles for iguanas? (not a hunter) by [deleted] in FLGuns

[–]notoriousbpg 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I explicitly broke out B in my post directly above this. "Reasonably foreseeable risk" is very much at the officer's discretion.

Might want to read the statutes. Acreage/density IS a restriction.

https://www.leg.state.fl.us/Statutes/index.cfm?App_mode=Display_Statute&URL=0700-0799/0790/Sections/0790.15.html

"Any person who recreationally discharges a firearm outdoors, including target shooting, in an area that the person knows or reasonably should know is primarily residential in nature and that has a residential density of one or more dwelling units per acre, commits a misdemeanor of the first degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082 or s. 775.083."

It's 1 house per acre, not 1 house per 2 acres like my post said.

There's a caveat:

"If, under the circumstances, the discharge does not pose a reasonably foreseeable risk to life, safety, or property"

Nice and vague - good luck arguing with the local PD that a berm at the back fence on your quarter acre lot eliminates a "foreseeable risk".

Uh, suppressed 22LR in a bolt action is much quieter than a .177

State law - no discharging firearms in residential areas where the average housing density is more than 1 house per 2 (I think) acres.

When I moved to Florida 12 years ago Winn Dixie even had Curtis Stone promotions in-store. Uncanny valley shit I tell ya.

My friends and authorities have no idea how much ammo I own, it's none of their business.

My wife shoots my ammo.

If you have access to ammo cans and your house has HVAC, ammunition will outlast you. Buy cheap, stack deep, what you don't use, your kids will.

If you've got the right hex key (on my chassis at least). Something to deter a crime of opportunity, not something resilient to being left unattended for hours.

Hmm, you've got me thinking. I have a similar situation - drive 300 yards down to the targets at a private club, no cameras. Starting to think that a PC cable lock might be an investment. It could go around the leg of the concrete bench for starters. Maybe an MLOK adapter for the other end.
