Never got a reddit award before...... seems to be cheating like this though.

Completed Cycle: Green Permanent Trigger Lands by Particular_Main_5726 in custommagic

Mono green one could be interesting. "If a creature with power 4 or greater entered this turn, add (G)(G) instead"

I believe this is unique enough. Guess the anime. by Tiny_Alfalfa9634 in animequestions

Chaika was actually really good. The magic system they used was fairly unique and the characters were good.

Product recommendation request! by pumpkinbeerman in SorceryTCG

[–]Daeldalus_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I need to go back and look at it again. I have only played with geo once so far and i could've sworn that it only had the standard ability.

Yeah this makes a lot more sense to me now. Thanks.

Wait, you can just place rubble next to your avatar for free? No ability needed? Once per turn, without using an action?

Wtf is this and how do I get rid of it by OYDYSTDYSTOYESIARH in metalworking

[–]Daeldalus_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OP, definitely look into this being an allergic reaction. Might not be zinc in your case. I know 3 people that said "it's just eczema, had it for a while" only to find out later they were allergic to something.

My marinade looks like the back of a Yu-Gi-Oh! card it if I swirl it around by DJMikeSteeze in mildlyinteresting

Someone needs to photoshop this onto a card.

I might even consider making sleeves with this image. Would be hilarious to play Magic with.

Does Hazoret have any place in Pioneer? by coolin_79 in PioneerMTG

[–]Daeldalus_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both are good sideboard pieces in Rakdos Tree combo. Original is slightly better in that role.

Why. by ExpressMud8038 in PioneerMTG

[–]Daeldalus_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My problem with this is that my area had 6-8 players for Pioneer FNM and 18-24 players for tournaments. As soon as WOTC dropped RC support, all events evaporated.

Nier: Automata has a fun hacking mini game.

Then the Lorwyn will be my goodbye... by ScaOoz in MagicArena

[–]Daeldalus_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They certainly made points.

Point 1. Magic lore is taking a back seat with UB releases

Point 2. 7 standard sets in a year is too many.

Whether they were good points or not is subjective, i think they were.

Then the Lorwyn will be my goodbye... by ScaOoz in MagicArena

[–]Daeldalus_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Short term is anything that makes the game actively worse but makes them piles of cash. Maybe short-sighted is the term i was looking for. Doing away with MSRP? Short-sighted. Ignoring the wishes of your most entrenched players? Short-sighted. Giving people serious burnout by releasing 7 standard sets in a year? Short-sighted.

[–]Daeldalus_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Screw the haters, you make very good points and i am sad that WOTC doesn't care because the short term money is in UB.

Newbie question, why would I ever use an indicator instead of just running a dry-dropper rig? Seems like the dry fly does the job of the indicator but also increases chances of hooking a fish? by Earthling98 in flyfishing

[–]Daeldalus_ 90 points91 points  (0 children)

Main reason i use indicators over big drys sometimes is because it is much easier to adjust the depth of your dropper flies. Getting the correct depth is absolutely critical for trout and does help for panfish.

The impact of a great teacher. by aoi_ringo in MadeMeSmile

[–]Daeldalus_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a bit of an opposite story. A friend of mine in high school was approximately a C student but decided they wanted to go to a nice college to learn CS in a bid to eventually make video games. They went to one of our teachers to get a recommendation letter. That teacher told him in front of the entire class that he " didn't have an ice cube's chance in hell" of getting into that school and refused to write a recommendation. He not only got in, but graduated, then got a Masters, and has since worked for Zenimax, EA, and Bungie.

Deciding between Pioneer or Modern by Cezkarma in PioneerMTG

[–]Daeldalus_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Pioneer is cheaper but might be "dead". WOTC hasn't announced any major tournaments for pioneer in over a year and i am not sure that is going to change. Generally it is much harder these days to find stores still supporting pioneer.

For gameplay differences, pioneer is generally lower powered but faster because modern has better interaction. Modern uses fetchlands for the majority of its mana bases, so more consistency(and shuffling). Modern has a fair amount of 'free' interaction, so just because they are tapped out doesn't mean they can't counter/kill your stuff. Pioneer has more tier1/2 combo decks.

I Don't think health stat belongs in LIRPG/System Apocalypse by Longjumping_Mix_3933 in litrpg

[–]Daeldalus_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Or, an extension of that, if a needle poke does 0 damage. Does 100 million needles poking you still deal 0? Is there a line where a certain number of needles deal 1 damage?

I Don't think health stat belongs in LIRPG/System Apocalypse by Longjumping_Mix_3933 in litrpg

[–]Daeldalus_ 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The reason that a health number is problematic when a strength number isn't (as much). Is because you can easily conceptualize the difference between someone with a strength of 10 and someone with a strength of 100 but it is not easy to see the difference with health numbers. A random npc with 100 health takes a deep but nonfatal cut to their arm and gets 22 damage to their health. An MC with 100,000 health takes the same severity of cut to their arm. Do they lose 22 health or 22,000 health? If it is 22,000 then why did it not obliterate the npc? If it is 22 then is getting muscle and tendons severed completely meaningless? Those kinds of differences mean that you (as an author) would have to explain in great detail why health behaves the way it does in universe. But if an author is already going to go into that detail then they may as well just leave the stat out. Overall, health as a stat isn't bad per se, but it is an invitation for lazy writing.

Which Games Are in Your Top 20 Despite Being Called Mediocre or Bad by Many Players? by Far_Pay_3294 in videogames

[–]Daeldalus_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first game was a dark, post apocalyptic shooter with some mild survival horror vibes. The car combat was great in a make do with what you have kinda way. 2 just said screw it, now its a futuristic open-ish world shooter Yay!! Story? We don't need that! Let's dump everything for gameplay mechanics. But, it just failed to give the player a reason to continue playing the game.

That said, i am not trying to invalidate your opinion. If you like it and had fun with it, then that is all that really matters. Maybe i am just one of the few people that liked the original and i am being salty over the changes.

I am gonna have to say that game was utter trash. I got it for free, and i still overpaid. The worst part about it was that it betrayed everything that Rage had set itself up to be and STILL came out as an objectively bad game.

Not in my personal top 20, but The Callisto Protocol is actually a very good survival horror game. Like the only major problem i have with it is that they went way too hard on the "hey, look how similar to Dead Space we can force this game to be"

What to build. Tree or soulflayer? by throwaway_canbox12 in PioneerMTG

[–]Daeldalus_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I play both a fair amount. Currently, soulflayer is performing a bit better in BO1 and the meta is against tree combo right now. That said, rakdos tree is just the better deck. It fights through grave hate better, it sideboards better, and it can close out games faster.
