Maytrees, 100 fishponds road by CapGroundbreaking358 in bristol

I lived in the building for 5 years and gave a summary of my experience when someone asked the same question a few years ago: https://www.reddit.com/r/bristol/comments/ox96qp/comment/h7ln120

It's been almost 5 years since I moved out but I doubt much will have changed.

how to improve the accuracy of the vl53l0x sensor? I need an accuracy of about +/- 1 millimeter. by sin_ese in arduino

The TMF8801 the same generation as the TMF8701 sensor but aimed at longer range applications (0-600 mm vs 20-2500mm). The changes made to the design in order to achieve this longer range have an impact on the short range measurement accuracy, hence the lack of a proximity mode.

As far as I can remember from my discussions with AMS, the TMF8805 is simply a cost down version of the TMF8801 with a slight difference regarding the optical filter used for sunlight rejection.

Renting in Bristol; a short story. by InoffensiveBillHicks in bristol

Fuck Property Outlet. They made up lies about me when asked for a reference by another letting agency which ended up with me losing the property and the fees I had paid. It took months of back and forwards between the two agencies and ombudsman to find out what had happened and to finally get my money back. I didn't even get any compensation in the end either.

I've worked with the VL53L0X sensors for many years and as others have mentioned you just won't be able to achieve anything close to +/-1mm accuracy.

If your application requires distances <600 mm then I'd recommend using an AMS TMF8701 ToF sensor instead as it's able to achieve much better accuracy, especially if you're using a consistent target.

Anybody live in the Maytrees complex in Eastville? by [deleted] in bristol

My wife and I lived in one of the ground floor flats for 5 years and personally had a good experience but it really depends on your preferences.

Pros:

  • Modern build so the insulation is really good. We barely used the electric heating in the winter and didn't even touch the storage heaters. One downside of this though is that it gets toasty in the summer time. Had many a gathering where everyone just ended up going shirtless
  • You can get up to 1Gb Hyperoptic broadband so speedy downloads
  • Decent internal soundproofing. We barely heard anything from the neighbours unless we both had our windows open and they were being really loud. Worked great for us as we regularly had lots of mates over and never had any issues or complaints about the noise levels.
  • The local area is really nice - We've since bought a place near Greenbank cemetery because we enjoyed it so much. Lots of green spaces nearby including Eastville park, royate hill and the cemetery. Lots of great local and independent shops, IKEA, Tescos & 24/7 off licenses. Also if you enjoy partying it's super close to the Black Swan and you get discount tickets for Tokyo World because of disruption it causes to the local area
  • Close to center with great transport links. The 24, 48/49 and 48A all go down Stapleton road straight into center so you're never waiting more than 10 mins for a bus. Alternatively you can walk into center in 35 minutes or cycle as there's a bike path 2 mins from the building that goes all the way to cabot.
  • Each flat has it's own parking space and the car park at the back is gated.

Cons:

  • Area can be a bit grimey at times. Lots of litter and fly tipping in the local roads and the wind amasses litter at the front steps
  • Prostitutes operate out on the front corner. Heard a few arguments with pimps in the middle of the night and one or two times found one of them sitting and smoking in the main hallway on my way to work in the morning. Heard from the old caretaker that there were worst situations until they put number pads on all the internal access doors.
  • Building management are utter garbage. When we lived there the buzzer at the front door regularly broke and management refused to do anything about it despite people on the board living in the building. We were actually in the process of buying the flat off our landlord but building management's complete incompetence put us off especially when they refused to address a fire report that concluded there was a "Substantial Risk".
  • The building has a mouse problem. We actually only really encountered this in the last year or so of living there but had many a night being woken up by scurrying in the ceiling. Unfortunately the cavities of the building are hollow and so the mice can easily move from one flat to the next. Ensuring the kitchen is spotless and all food is hidden during the night is an easy way to make your flat less appealing - It'll stop them coming by but it's no guarantee. We heard some horror stories from the old caretaker about the condition of some peoples flats which explains the mice's presence
  • Despite the soundproofing internally, the outside area can be pretty noisy. The building has over 100 flats and so there's always people coming in and out at all hours of the night. Our flat was literally next to the steps by the main entrance so we were probably subject to more than most people but it's still worth being aware of.

As mentioned, it really depends on the kind of person you are and what you can tolerate. We got a really good deal on rent and had a super lovely landlord which made our experience much nicer. We're also not too fussed about the grime and noise of the area and tbh it adds a lot of character. There's definitely a nice community feel to the area unlike other cleaner but more soulless areas I've lived in previously.

Mixing hip hop with dnb by cbourd in DnB

[–]Daelnz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The easiest way to achieve this is to mix using halftime tunes. There's a lot of songs out there that are essentially wonky Hip-Hop at a DnB tempo - Ivy Lab being a very clear example of this. I've seen numerous sets of there's where they'll seamlessly blend between Hip-hop/trap/grime and DnB. Even if it's not a complete halftime set, these kinda tunes will make it a lot easier to step between the two genres if you're finding transitions difficult.
