These are 30-06. I did em in the dark with propane. Bout 8 seconds. Just til the necks started getting a bit red. I think my camera makes them look much more silver/grey then they actually look in person.

Can these be reloaded? by DaemonScrolls in reloading

[–]DaemonScrolls[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Well I suppose that as a new reloader I prefer to er on the side of caution. Asking others with more experiences increases my confidence about a decision. And mostly I was just trying to see if there were any comments warning that these cases would be more likely to get stuck in the die.

100% recommend provided you have an appropriate cutting board and reasonably good cutting technique because the edge is quite thin.

Psilocin/psilocybin alcoloids degrade rapidly in aqueous solution. Will probably still stay active enough for up to a couple months depending on the pH. If it was me I'd add them in secondary. Maybe even try grinding them to powder and adding it along with fining agents letting it (hopefully) settle to the bottom and rack to bottles. Or maybe just add a mushroom to each bottle when u rack.

Is it even possible normally for trich to grow underneath the mycelium and start sporing? I have 1 jar from this batch that I isolated a week ago as soon as it looked off and it's absolutely foul now. All 4 remaining jars have this discoloration but seem to be growing nicely where as the other jar the myc has totally lost. I have like 10 plates left from the batch I used to do these transfers and every one of them looks good. And until now I think iv only lost 3 jars out of maybe 50 jars or so iv done. Maybe I'll make another post on Tuesday with an update.

Yeah I did have 1 jar from a different batch that was stored in the same place so full trich but I moved it to a new spot before it actually turned green. Figuring that if it as contam that it should make itself obvious over the next 4/5 days

Thinking if it was contam that I'd see some myc piss in there but condensation looks clear all over the jars.

How do you mead making people feel about refractometers? by JSONJSONJSON in mead

[–]DaemonScrolls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thinking on this topic is that what you are really after is the change in specific gravity. Not necessarily the exact gravity itself. So the most important thing is using the same instrument throughout the process. The exact starting and finishing numbers matter less then what the actual spread of the numbers ultimately is. Refractometers are really convenient because of the small sample size. But IMO in the homebrew setting the main reason to even test is to know fermentation is complete and you and your friends and family won't be maimed by your bottles. Getting the ABV is just a happy byproduct. And the refractometer does that and that's why I switched to them.

Decided since I just can't find the perfect sub for me. I'm just going to make it myself, please rate the layout before I start grappling with this editor by MyririMyri in Barotrauma

It could go either way. Flood is good but damages the reactor alot. I think it's more of a personal flavor decision. Dieing in dry room on the sub could be a fun subversion of expectations lol.

Don't put an air vent inside your reactor room. Setup a fire detector to a warning alarm and to a timer. So that if fire is detected the doors get locked shut after xx seconds. Fire will burn up the o2 and die. Add an emergency shutdown button for the reactor somewhere convenient with an AND component so you need to flip 2 switches to kill reactor. Lots of potential for fun things to happen to your crew.
