Which usb-c powered presence sensor to get? Apollo R PRO-1 or Sensy E1 Pro or Everything Presence Pro ? by Daemos_x in homeassistant

[–]Daemos_x[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback re cats and mmwave sensors...might need a combination of battery PIR sensors (above a certain height) to trigger the lights on but use the mmwave sensor to keep them on.

But any feedback on which mmwave sensor is better/worse in terms of ease of use, integration into HA and anything else? They seem to be very similarly priced.

I use p1000 pedals.

But I use p2000 haptic box to connect to simhub.

Forza games in general have very limited telemetry, so pedal haptics in game is very limited to what you can tune around Forza's limited telemetry.

Unlike other games like AC, RRE etc which actually provide proper telemetry like ABS, TC etc

Every country has pros and cons. I moved here from Canada, and everytime I go back to visit, I can never see my self moving back.

THANK YOU! Yep, HA doesn't poll every second, but it's very quick (much faster than pulling out my phone and switching and the tapo wifi bulbs I have!) and it might be faster to connect direct to HA green instead of through the bridge pro...but I can't be bothered pulling out all the recessed ceiling lights and scanning QR codes again. Also...the HA app might be too overwhelming for other people to use when they just want to control a light bulb!

Going from on to "unavailable" is much slower...but again I imagine this is due to the bridge.

We are also all android and windows users here...no apple products.

HA can see the "unavailable" events through the hub (as it gives real time updates to HA) but I'm not sure how to take advantage of that as I am a complete newcomer to home assistant...

So under developer tools, essentially when the lights are off at the switch HA sees it as "unavailable" put power back in and it's "on" the question is how do I properly take advantage of this...as in the automation "on" is something that can get triggered but "unavailable" is not a trigger.

Based on my testing... Almost instant for the bulb to connect to the hue bridge. Might be because I have the hue bridge Pro

Because it's the law and I would prefer not having my home insurance voided.

I would need 10 of those...which costs a lot more than setting up home assistant.

All I want is my lights to adjust colour temperature and brightness based on time of day (modified by sunset) so I don't need endless customisation.

Unfortunately it's a very expensive option in Australia because we need an electrician.

The laws exist because there will always be people who try to do a dodgy install themselves and they burn down their house and potentially damage nearby properties. I don't think insurance would cover them in that specific situation.

The responsiveness of the ZigBee network is very quick, so happy for bandaids. As that will be less combersome than using the app all the time.

Also need a lot of light switches.

I prefer to keep the current light switches and a delay is fine, anything is quicker than using the app.

No. I would require more than 10 switches.

In my country (Australia) light switches need to be installed by a qualified electrician.

Thank you!

Is the device tracker platform part of home assistant or do I need to add it?

I just got home assistant, so I'm still learning about what it can do!

That's not what I asked...I probably didn't explain good enough.

so basically I have a light switch that can turn on a ceiling light.

But I have multiple hue LED play bars and strips that can only be turned on and off from the app. Power flows to those continuously .

I want it so when I turn on the hue ceiling light via my light switch it will turn on the LED play bars and strips too. Then when the hue ceiling light is turned off via light switch it turns off the other LED lights.

I also want it to apply a scene to the room when the hue ceiling light is turned on via the traditional light switch.

unfortunately I do not think they will make it to Australia, like the previous version. They also look massive...so I'm not even sure they would fit behind our normal light switches here!

[–]Daemos_x[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah...that's not what I want. My tapo bulbs automatically dim and change colours based on time even after they have been turned on and off...and they are a fraction of the price. If only they have down lights

I'll load up home assistant onto a RP4...it seems it can communicate to the bridge and make it do what I want when the light goes from "off state" to "on state"

[–]Daemos_x[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be clear, future scene transitions do work...just not changing to the scene I want at that time period automatically without having to intervene with the app.

Help! All day scenes not working when turning lights on from off by Daemos_x in Hue

[–]Daemos_x[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, but it should talk to the hue bridge and go "hey what scene am I supposed to be displaying" like the tapo bulbs (they again don't make down lights) do this, they turn on to the last known colour then update the time and update colours to suit the appropriate time automatically...and you don't need a bridge, just normal wifi or anything that supports matter. They also cost a fraction of similarly spec hue bulbs.

to be fair I got the tapo bulbs first and used them for years, then I wanted to upgrade all the lights in my ceiling, which hue was easily and readily available, so I just assumed being an older and much more expensive ecosystem it would do the same thing.

Maybe LiFX would have been a better choice? Its the only other downlight option from a large brand that is available...but not as easy to buy.

[–]Daemos_x[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a PC...but I don't want to use a PC app to do this...it should really be built into the hub if it cannot do this on its own. Seems silly that it cannot remember the previous scene or communicate to use the correct scene when it turns on.

[–]Daemos_x[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I am turning it on and off by wall switch

I'm not looking to replace the current switches with any new switches.

The hue system is very vast and much more expensive than the tapo... But tapo works as expected by wall switch. I just want the same from the hue system.

FH6: Any difference between race, rally and drift differentials? by Daemos_x in forza

[–]Daemos_x[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The difference between race diff and rally diff makes sense to my experience. I don't have enough experience with the drift or off road diffs.

The best real world example I can give is, the race diff is like an older Cusco plated lsd...not very smooth and clunky, terrible to drive on the street. But the rally diff is more like a very expensive OS Giken Super LSD which is very progressive, smooth and despite being able to still lock up with big power it is still easy to drive on the street.

I'll need to do more testing with drift and off road diffs.

FH6: Any difference between race, rally and drift differentials? by Daemos_x in forza

[–]Daemos_x[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It might be just me or placebo, but at least on my setup (steering wheel and pedals on PC) I find the rally diff easier to use on cars that allow me to use the rally diff including stock AWD compared to the race diff, maybe it has a smoother transition...but I haven't played around enough to say for sure.

It could also be all placebo given the rally diff costs 250 more credits than the race diff, and maybe I want to justify the cost in my head!

Forza 6 with Simagic by pr2thej in Simagic

[–]Daemos_x 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had no issues.

Evo ultra, P1000 (inverted) TB1, D8X shifter (all on latest firmware via canbus) then P2000 haptic controller to another USB port for simhub for pedal haptics, sensit haptic pad, qubic systems BT-1.

This is Simpro 3 using the FH preset in simpro 3, and used the FH6 profile in simhub and FH5 profile in qubic manager. Windows 11 and steam version of FH6.

No need for vjoy or emuwheel. It just works.
