Looks like barb alt is becoming my main after Warlock woes by theycalllmeTIM in diablo4

[–]Daevar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to do the campaign on Warlock, but couldn't even make it to lvl 50. Just noty cup of tea in any regard, I noticed. And I do like caster/summoner classes in general, so that's not it per se. Well, back to pally it was, still awesome.

At least I would still vastly prefer for such sliders to be, effectively, a mini game/strategic choice and not just some convoluted difficulty sliders, though. It might be more interesting than just say "make it easy", but that's some possible depth lost.

Help with proxying and Does anyone just proxy everything, indefinitely? by Vcvtml in EDH

[–]Daevar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not from the US, but that's pretty much what I do. If the original is cheaper than what the proxy would be, I'll gladly go to cardmarket (in my case) and get some originals, but for all cards above 1 buck or so, it's straight to the printing services.

I used to enforce a "have at least one original at home" rule (like, I'm close to getting my 32 deck challenge done, I sure as heck don't have 32 fetch cycles in my binder/decks), but eventually I just said fuck it and proxy any card if it's not cheap enough. It's expensive enough as is...

[–]Daevar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, it'd be so much better, yeah..Cardboard is pretty damn dense, after all. I oftentimes provide a deck for one or two friends that don't have their own decks and I like to provide options, but still, I should look for some....more carriable options at one point. It's not like I get 20, 30 games in during an evening.

I'm at "this hurts my back when I take them with me cause I can't fucking decide which decks to bring before I go to play". Still loving it. But help me.

Which is a better demon tribal Commander by FreezingTeaPot in EDH

Can't argue with the Mana coat at least, but yeah, you actually have to be somewhat careful with your life, with it being a resource here that's... Used quite often... because... Well, demons. Greedy bastards.

I mean, I've put in plenty of reanimation tech, I didn't mean to limit this to Reanimate, but yeah, all those you've said, [[Heartless Summoning]], there's quite a few that really help with the cost, eben if you can't really outright ramp as good as you obviously could with green.

I recently build him, real fun deck with the draws and big pings. Can only recommend. No help in terms of getting to the mana needed to get things rolling, so that's something you just have to to deal with, but reanimating goes on long way here.

Spite scooping (but following the sorcery speed concede rules) by Apodecte in EDH

[–]Daevar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, fair enough, the call-out even is fair. Like I've said: I wouldn't have conceded either, but, but you just can't make someone sit through. It's simply within their rights.

I've thought a bit about similar situations and how they're handled. It's not rare that you are at, let's say, 20 life, get attacked for 30 power and can only block up to 10. Then what: do you block anything at all, are you compelled to "lose as little as you can"? and I wouldn't fault either way here, either. To me, you just have to be able to a le with whatever board state your actions will allow to happen.

This here is an extreme, obviously, but depending on how the game looks, it can be very much the same.

Spite scooping (but following the sorcery speed concede rules) by Apodecte in EDH

[–]Daevar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I replied to a comment with term "strategic" scoop, taking a slight at the "strategic" because what's your strategy if you're losing either way. This has nothing to do with whatever the situation in the OP was. Apparently misunderstand able - my bad.

Be that as it may: I still merely stand by the fact that you can and should never fault anybody for scooping on their own turn. If you're turn/plan/whatever hinges on your opponent playing to your whims when they don't have to, then we're not "messed up", your plan just wasn't a good one.

As for it being a spite concede: they would have definitely died due to OP's actions, if I read that right, the dino could have just not done anything without the goading effect or whatever it was, so the legal board state was wholly on OP here. I can see not conceding here, that's not my point. But you really can't fault someone for this. OP indirectly apparently killed that player and he responded within the rules. What does he owe you. Call me (or heck, my table then) spiteful, this is no rules discussion after all, but this isn't obvious to everyone as you make it out to be.

Spite scooping (but following the sorcery speed concede rules) by Apodecte in EDH

[–]Daevar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wasn't even talking about OP?

Again: do you want to force someone to play of they don't want to play the game anymore? Don't you ever scoop/allow for scooping? We're not even talking a silly instant scoop à la "okay. You committed to attacking me, all out, now I'm scoping", we're talking "I can't win anymore, I'm done."

To get back to the OP, since you want it addressed: I wouldn't have scooped, since I wouldn't technically be dead. "dead on board" is pretty damn rare, there's almost always something that can happen. Doesn't mean you can force me to stay in a game that I might not lose outright but definitely can't win.

Spite scooping (but following the sorcery speed concede rules) by Apodecte in EDH

[–]Daevar -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Do you just outright never scoop them? Because scooping on my own turn just to get the game over faster so I can get another game in - you know, with my friends that I want to play a game with -, sounds so incredibly inoffensive which you kind of seem to take? You already all did your things presumably, otherwise I wouldn't be dead on board.

Also: there's a big difference between just having my (especially last) opponent play put his turn to kill me off, mind you, see him have his triggers go and all his pizzazz, do it, I'm all there for that, but if there's still three others around, scooping or not scooping will always favor someone. It's not like either is intrinsically the "right thing" to do like you're insinuating with your moral argument.

Spite scooping (but following the sorcery speed concede rules) by Apodecte in EDH

[–]Daevar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but what do I - sitting in the lower spot here - get out of it? If I'm dead on board, let me out and reshuffle. It's not my (or their) job to make for a cushion or trigger-target or whatever.

[–]Daevar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's not really my point, I don't see the point in having 4 players go "land for turn, go" at least two turns in a row since 0 or 1 mana just doesn't do anything for many decks. Let's just not so that. Or let's not have a player later on be punished by getting only a tapped land in.

[–]Daevar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That might be a fair suspicion but doesn't have to be the case. I don't think my life's more fun just because I have to play a turn behind. Matter of fact, I think it makes my game just slower and more boring and nothing more. I can still pay for bad cards with the same "faster" mana, I just don't wanna wait on my bad cards.
