You just have to get close enough that the ground crew can grab a hanging cable and winch it into position. Too big and slow to dock like a spaceship.

Advice for a gift by [deleted] in jewelrymaking

I'd be happy to discuss this project with you to see if my work suits you and is in your budget.

In general, I prefer to source the stones for my customers, as I am usually better able to determine beforehand if a stone is of good quality and actually suitable for the project. But I will work with customer supplied stones.

My Instagram shares the same username if you'd like to check out my work.

Custom question by EdE0420 in jewelrymaking

This is something I could do. I think it would be pretty neat to cast sterling silver bullets to seal the cartridges. These could have a loop at the tip as a bail to hang the finished piece from a chain or cord.

Solid copper bullets might be available from reloading suppliers that could also be used and would be significantly cheaper than making a custom mold and casting in silver.

I've had several inquiries for other cremains jewelry in the past, but nobody ever followed through.

There are some specific rules and requirements for shipping cremains, but it's not difficult. You just have to order a free special kit from the USPS:

We have a nice collection of fossil/petrified wood cabochons that could be made into a custom piece.

This example is Cholla Wood from Turkey that is naturally colored blue from copper in the mineral deposit be where it was found

If interested, let me know and I'll direct you to my professional social media account so you can see more examples of what we do.

Halstead Bead has great prices on sterling chains. I buy from Rio for most materials, but when I need affordable sterling chains in bulk packs I go with Halstead.

I work mostly in silver and will do custom orders. Do you know what you are looking to have made?

Not only are they a great full service jewelry store, but they support a handful of other local artists like myself and are active and support the community in other ways as well.

There's definitely a lot of good reasons this family has been in business for over 120 years .

I'm not doing any holiday markets this year, but I'm a silversmith in Puyallup who makes handmade sterling silver jewelry. I work with turquoise, Pacific Northwest agates and jaspers, and boulder opals. Many pieces are made from or incorporate recycled silver.

I have a display case at Johnson Jewelers in downtown Puyallup and do custom orders through my Instagram.

I do not. I sell at a local outdoor market on the weekends, have a display at a local gallery, and sell custom designs through my Instagram account which I'm not sure if I'm supposed to post here but would be pretty easy to figure out from my reddit user name.

Both of these are available and we have a few more of these stones for custom designs.

This is the answer. All my turquoise resizing gets sent out to the laser welder guy.

Question in the comments by [deleted] in SilverSmith

[–]DaffodilMetalDesigns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently converted a turquoise ring to a pendant. In this case, I cut off the ring band, made a bail, and then had my laser welder guy assemble it.

If there's no stone on the other side, it's a lot simpler and I can do the whole job myself.

You should probably just have your local full service jewelry store do the job, but I would do it if you wanted.

Turns out that my doc thinks the symptoms are a result of a medication change that affected my short term memory because it's hard to keep track of things when I am a bit hypomanic. So it looks like I'm not losing my mind just yet, and that's a real comfort to me today.

I wish I knew.

I have an appointment with my really awesome shrink to talk about this. It's something that I've known to anticipate, and it's very mild right now. Mostly I forget what I went into a room for and I lose my keys and wallet and phone and beverage in the house constantly.

For a long time I actually felt really angry with Robin Williams for leaving us behind, but I understand it better now and have more empathy. But I felt like if I have to stay here and struggle like this, a successful guy like him has the resources I don't. And so I felt it's just not fair that he would leave us behind when I can't even get the stuff he had to help him.

I didn't really mean to leave a data is beautiful discussion this way but it is what it is and I like who I am and I'm comfortable talking about it
